That mod was definitely a cool ride. And quick too. But that said, I'm not surprised that it was as quick as a street stock, even with a smaller motor. It sounded pretty healthy and was a modern small block mod. They ARE that fast. This one just had a badass body put on it. Not a true 30-40yr old technology vintage mod. Not bashing.... Loved the car, just not surprised by it.

This car isn't a current technology Small Block Modified but rather a 90's chassied car running a mid 40's body. Its a similar configuration to what was run in the 70s and 80s and before 'max flex', 'driver back' and 'rubber floor' chassis.

If you're looking for genuine 40 year old cars racing in this day and age, you would be flirting with disaster with metal fatigue and rust potentially rendering the cars downright dangerous.

Although we call our Class 'Vintage Modifieds', they are probably closer to 'Retro styled Modifieds' as we endeavor to keep the Vintage look alive without compromising on the integrity of the car or safety. Most cars run 80s/90s chassis which would not be competitive with todays hi tech Modifieds. We house them in old sheetmetal and use basic low cost/low tech suspension (nothing adjustable from cockpit and no hi tech/lightweight stuff). Engines are all steel and wet sump and they have to weigh 2500 pounds.

Even though they are very basic Modifieds, they certainly do get along and were as fast as the Crate Late Models at PPMS last year.

Glad you liked the car. We're hoping to bring a good field of them to AMP this year.

I still say its a load of bullshit they won't even bring them in for even a special race...mods were always a staple at the track and then a new owner comes in and thats the class he refuses to keep on or work with but yet adds a brand new class that might have 5 cars a week?? Makes a lot of sense...

I guess you have been huffing PVC glue again ..... They were not as fast as the crate lates , and a mid 80's chassis is just as much a death trap as a mid 60's chassis , tubing rusts from
The inside out ....

That would be awesome I think Kevin Bolland would be able to race there in his 777 because I heard his suspension is only for Lernerville and Dirt I never heard of this track but I would go if they had modifieds and Revin Kevin 777 was there.

it's HILDO with an H

Suhoney,Do not know who you are but why don't you call and talk to Mr.Taylor instead of cursing on here.He will give you time to express yourself. What would you suggest he do drop the Late models and make it a modified track.Or do you underpay them and give them the semi late purse which is a low budget class. And if They get 5 cars to start Jeff will be very happy. If you know a sponsor or you will help with the purse then give him a call, he will listen

not calling names chuck, have all the respect in the world for you guys bringing racing back to the track...just saying it's bull that you couldn't even have 1 race for a class that used to be a track staple...

No one except you cares about the mods .... And you say they should race the divisions there that they always did ...... Am I mistaking or did the place go out of business running your recommended divisions ???

How many mods are left near that area, not the ones that have been sitting in the weeds or garage, i mean cars that are raced weekly. There are only so many mods left running and if you try and split that field between a couple tracks you have a handful of cars with so-so racing and they expect a full purse.
