There's actually a lot more stock guys out there that have cars and pretty much run ppms only, but are not ready, no time, or no $$$.. I can think of Atleast 10 guys that have cars, but haven't raced yet.. It will get better. One the I know that pisses people off though is that the track raises the price of admission , but cuts our purse by 100 bucks off the top.

Honestly you guys averaged 8 cars ... It's hard to justify 400 to win when you only get 8 cars

To expand on that for years the stock guys complained that if only the pay was higher there would be tons of cars so they raised the pay and got 5 or 6 less on average

so if its not the pay, then what is it? i think most stocks are geared for the smaller 3/8 4/10 mile tracks, maybe yep

they tried for one year to raise the pay..after years of boning everyone.

Rome wasn't built in a day..
last week the place looked like a ghost town, just bulldoze it and get it over with.

Raising the pay resulted in less cars instead of more though ... So there must be other factors at play. Paying a lot doesn't guarantee anything .... I broke every rule of hiring I have and attempted to pay more than I wanted to and it resulted in guys who were just as bad only paying them more. 8 cars is a problem with only 8 cars there's no real reason to even keep the division. I'm sure calling all of the guys who don't come any more and finding out why would net some answers

They lost sight of things. For a family with such a deep background in local racing here, they can't seem to see the damage they have done to their reputation and credibility with the local racers. The arbitrary rule enforcement, on the spot rule changes, and favoritism & discrimination from one team to another, to just plain disrespecting people, has trashed their reputation. Respect and credibility is something you earn. I'm still there every week, but it's cause of the people there, not the people that own the place. B)

Having 2 yr old twin girls and now a single income is my excuse. :)

The admission increases make me seriously consider running Sharon, same drive for me and still have plenty of 8" wheels/tires.

I do plan on racing the open tire nights at PPMS this year. Good 1300-1400ish tires, either used or from Hoosier discontinued site, seem to be much easier and cheaper to come by than 1600s that aren't blistered or just torched.

Biggest issue for me is really time, not so much the $$.

I really don't think its a gearing issue, most guys run a 9" ford rear and gear changes are easy. Some guys just can seem to figure the place out, it is tricky and takes some time to figure out. I also think that some don't like the fact that there is a wall all the way around with bolts sticking out 6-8" ready to junk your shit with the slightest glance off of it. I myself love the place but also like racing other tracks too, dont want to be known as a one track wonder.. lol.

As Chuck Noll once said; "There are problems and they are many". Given it's proximity to Pittsburgh, PPMS should be the crown jewel of dirt track racing in Western Pa. What it is now is a business clinging to the good name it once had that was developed under the ownership and promotion of Nick Garin. It has a loyal fan and competitor base that has been put through the wringers over the last twenty odd seasons, and it appears as if the well is running dry. Just like many other struggling race tracks, it needs new owners and an extensive infusion of capital. I don't see that happening, so unless the economy explodes and produces a new and enthusiastic fan base with tons of disposable income and competitors that are similarly well off, the end of this place, sadly, might be close at hand. For those that race there and enjoy going there, I hope it doesn't happen.

They have made many mistakes over time that have slowly come back to haunt them. In no particular order: 1. began to sell beer and not allow people to bring it in. probably not too bad but surely could have lost them some good will. 2. changing admission prices same week as the event. 3. Matt Miley did himself no favors by coming on here and getting into debates with people who were paying customers. also did not come on after last years pittsburgher debacle which leads to next point. 4. attempting to alter the course of the pittsburgher to try to help family member win the race. 5. dropping the emods, hodgkiss is correct that the stock guys wanted higher purse and got it then get 10 cars a week. unless you know or are family members with someone in that class most people leave before their feature. when it was clear the increased purse was not going to work they should have took it back down to what it had been and add the extra to the late models. I am sure others can throw in their 2 cents but the bottom line is the car counts are fading quickly besides the crates and unless things turn around the track might be heading towards the same fate as many tracks before it.

I think most fans and drivers like to see a “little return on their investment.” Something as simple as a clean restroom, freshly painted bleachers or fence and even a coupon for a free hamburger a few times a year go a long way towards building good will and saying “Thank you” on behalf of the owners. Maybe a few simple ways to get a few extra fans in the stands as well as the pit area. JMO!!

This family has done more damage to the local racing scene than anyone else in total. They continue to milk out whatever they can out of the few people that go there, without giving anything back to the fans or racers. The well is running dry. Last year's Pittsburgher and their blatant favortism toward their own family member was sickening and the icing on the cake. We will never go back there after that debacle, no matter what they are paying. This facility given its location and one time state should have been a shining star. Lernerville is in the same area and flourishes. How much longer can a track operate on 50 cars in total and 200 fans?

I'd like to see John Kennedy buy the place, though with so many irons in the fire I doubt he'd even want to. He clearly has a lot of money and really likes late model racing, and that's exactly what PPMS needs.

Mark Richards would be another guy I'd like to see buy the place a dump some money into it. Though, if he did it, I could see the accusations of favoritism getting even worse than they are now, simply because he builds 95% of the cars that run there.
