3 gallons is a lot to miss on....so no, I don't apologize and I still don't believe them. I think BJ believes he messed up, but I don't think they messed up. Nobody is dumb enough to think they are gonna go out in the 3rd feature at Lernerville and pick up 25 pounds of mud. Those guys aren't dummies.

Which of these sounds better, "we accidentily did what noone does and missed on fuel by 3 gallons" or "we tried to break the rules and got called on it"? Yeah i'd go with the first one too. Missing by a gallon is understandable, missing by 3 doesn't happen to a team of that caliber.

I think you're reading too much into it.

I watched Swartzlander rock the car back and forth on the scale several times. Do you really think if he was that far under weight (let's assume, for the sake of argument, 25# or more), that "goosing" the scale would make that big of a difference? That's bullshit on it's face, guy.

It's one thing to believe that Brian's kid made a mistake, which I think is a legit and reasonable explanation. It's another matter completely to imply, as you are, that they were either blatantly cheating or just being coy when it came to the new minimum weight for his engine. If they are as smart as you say they are, and I believe they are, then why would they push the envelope, knowing that DIRT/WRG/Risch, Jr. are watching? That doesn't imply intelligence, and they know full well that it probably wouldn't have altered the outcome of the race. Like I said before, there is no pattern of cheating with this team. It would be easier to believe your explanation if there had even been one incident somewhere in the past.

I have personal knowledge of a night Brett Hearn missed weight because he was four gallons short. Brett Hearn. Quite possibly the most professional driver dirt modified racing has ever seen. If he can do it, anybody can.

I'm not a hater, I actually like Brian and crew. I just feel they tried pushing the rules and got caught. No big deal, happens all the time. But you can think whatever you want of me, I don't care. I'm allowed to voice my opinion, just like you are. If you don't like it, so be it.

Been around modifieds my whole life. My dad crewed on cars since the mid 80's and has had his own since 98. Been going to the track since I could walk and been to just about every mod track and major race along the way. I'm probably not as dumb as you think I am, just because we have differing opinions on things. I admit that I have no filter sometimes and should probably keep my opinions to myself, but it hasn't happened in 27 years and I highly doubt that's gonna change any time soon.

If they were light 25#, then that means they were trying to weigh exactly the minimum weight for his size motor (ex: 2500#). They aren't that great of a team to truly factor in excess mud plus account for any cautions that night take place during the opening might of racing. Not to mention, the track wasn't a tacky fast as early on in the night, therefore they would have most likely taken out gear which would consume less fuel. If he truly raced the late model race, then he would understand that the track had slowed down. In addition to opening night and a full moon, there is no way they could have banked on having a caution free race thus using less fuel. Just my opinion, they evidently thought they could get away with whatever they were doing as they have in the past. Plus, why the sudden change to their race schedule to not run Sharon on Saturday. Afraid of getting teched away from home?

The big small blocks have been supposed to weigh heavier then the big blocks for several years (maybe even a decade), much like the big blocks over 468, but it was never enforced. This year a point was made to say that they will be enforcing it, but the 83 team (like most teams) probably just assumed it was a hollow threat just like any tech threats most local tracks make. It just so happened to turn out that wasn't the case and they were the first to get nailed for it.

To be honest, I don't know how big small blocks are even allowed at Lernerville or Sharon. They're not DIRT legal.

They never enforced the rules, so guys started going bigger and bigger. Now they have about 8 cars or so that they are trying not to completely alienate and tell them they can't race with something they've had for a few years, so they are trying to level it out to keep more guys from buying them. The motors that guys like Brian and Guidace are running are nearly as expensive as a good big block and need rebuilt in half the laps. With the enforcement of the proper rules, there should be some growth in the division because guys won't be able to price themselves out as much. The next thing that needs to go is the 18 degree heads, as the price tag on those is completely outrageous.
