Like?? Have you ever been to Sportsmans Speedway? Recently? What do you base your hatred of that track on? Without consulting MapQuest, do you roughly know where Knox is? What do YOU like to watch so we can contact all the tracks in PA and Ohio and make sure they run those divisions. Will you turn up at every race at every track if they run what makes you delirious with excitement? Have you ever come out from behind your computer long enough to see what a parts truck looks like?A parts truck? I thought you were going to tell us they added a division that fans want to watch at Knox. Oh well.

You're reading too much into my post, BIGHAM. I don't hate Knox. I'm disappointed that they don't run the sprints and big blocks as they used to. So, no, I haven't been there recently. Having said that, perhaps I'm wrong. Please, correct me if they do indeed get just as many fans now as they did when they ran said divisions weekly.Like?? Have you ever been to Sportsmans Speedway? I've been there recently DUMPY8U and although they don't run big blocks and 410's, they do run small blocks and 305s. Sportsmans isn't Lernerville or PPMS and should be appreciated for what it is, not bashed for what its not. Like every other track in the country, they do their best with what they have. And now, they have a parts truck! You're reading too much into my post, BIGHAM. I don't hate Knox. I'm disappointed that they don't run the sprints and big blocks as they used to. Shouldn't every track strive to be a great place like Lernerville that packs the stands and runs the divisions people want to see? Shouldn't you want them to run the big blocks and 410s as they did in the past instead of shrugging your shoulders and saying "meh, they cant all be Lernerville." as they profit on giving you an inferior back gate laden product? Sorry you're so easily satisfied. A sucker like you is a promoter's dream.

Oh, I'm sure Sportsmans Speedway and every other track that's going strives and aspires to be the best they possibly can, but resources, location, backing and a thousand other things come into play. But I'm sure I'm not telling you anything here. An astute person like yourself would have worked this out right? And of course you would already know that in the scheme of things Lernerville is a great venue, but there are many, many more out there that make it look ordinary.Shouldn't every track strive to be a great place like Lernerville that packs the stands and runs the divisions people want to see? Lets break this down realistically. You do realize you're comparing a professionally run Dirt/WRG owned track within minutes of a major Capital city and with a lot of resources, to a privately owned and run track with limited resources and in the middle of nowhere. Its like comparing the latest pro built Late Model to a backyard built Street Stock. Lernerville has access to over 2 million people in the greater Pittsburgh area plus a vast corporate and business center to draw crowd and sponsorship from, whilst there are about 1200 people in Knox and zip industry. And you are comparing the 2 as equals? You want Sportsmans to fork out a similar payout to attract 410s and big blocks as Lernerville? Man, what are you on? What world do you live in?
Bottom line, I love the sport. I'm a realist and can appreciate each and every track on its merits and for what it is, but you on the other hand Princess, you just stay in your warm little fantasy world and keep dreaming.

Backing, location and a thousand other things come into to play? Hmmm. Well, Sam and Bonnie Colwell used to get my money on many a Sunday evening back when there was racing there worth seeing. Back when this place that has no cooperate backing, fan base, and a bad location used to pay a Sprint and BB Mod purse. I guess they were independently filthy rich and liked to throw their money away. That has to be it. You have all the answers, please tell us.
Local racetracks are not anymore immune to modern electronic media than any other business, nor should they be. If I'm told a pizza joint has a crummy product, I'm not going there. If they close because they don't get enough business, so be it. There have been many negative stories on here about Knox. Are they accurate or contrived? I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle but I sure as hell know that I'm not wasting time or fuel to drive 140 miles round trip to find out. The program, in my opinion, isn't worth it.
If location adjacent to a large population center full of fans and corporate sponsorship opportunities is so much of what Lernerville has that Knox doesn't, then why is PPMS going down the toilet, or is that all of our fault, too? And by the way, Lernerville has only been corporately owned for the last 7 or so years. DIRT/WRG isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but they are smart enough not to mess with the program.
One other thing that has many people pissed at Jim Colwell was how the whole situation with Glenn Hinkle was handled. Whether or not Hinkle was shafted is open for debate, but the perception is that he was and many people in the area refuse to support the place. I think that hurts them up there more than anything.
To close, I could care less who goes where and what they like. I know what I want to see, and I refuse to apologize for it. I also refuse to apologize for lamenting the fact that my choices for different venues to view open wheel racing have dwindled dramatically over the last half dozen years, and I attribute that primarily, not entirely, to short sighted track owners that take the safe way out by living off of the back gate. To believe otherwise displays ignorance.
