Your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it.Backing, location and a thousand other things come into to play? Hmmm. Well, Sam and Bonnie Colwell used to get my money on many a Sunday evening back when there was racing there worth seeing. Back when this place that has no cooperate backing, fan base, and a bad location used to pay a Sprint and BB Mod purse. I guess they were independently filthy rich and liked to throw their money away. That has to be it. You have all the answers, please tell us.
Local racetracks are not anymore immune to modern electronic media than any other business, nor should they be. If I'm told a pizza joint has a crummy product, I'm not going there. If they close because they don't get enough business, so be it. There have been many negative stories on here about Knox. Are they accurate or contrived? I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle but I sure as hell know that I'm not wasting time or fuel to drive 140 miles round trip to find out. The program, in my opinion, isn't worth it.
If location adjacent to a large population center full of fans and corporate sponsorship opportunities is so much of what Lernerville has that Knox doesn't, then why is PPMS going down the toilet, or is that all of our fault, too? And by the way, Lernerville has only been corporately owned for the last 7 or so years. DIRT/WRG isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but they are smart enough not to mess with the program.
One other thing that has many people pissed at Jim Colwell was how the whole situation with Glenn Hinkle was handled. Whether or not Hinkle was shafted is open for debate, but the perception is that he was and many people in the area refuse to support the place. I think that hurts them up there more than anything.
To close, I could care less who goes where and what they like. I know what I want to see, and I refuse to apologize for it. I also refuse to apologize for lamenting the fact that my choices for different venues to view open wheel racing have dwindled dramatically over the last half dozen years, and I attribute that primarily, not entirely, to short sighted track owners that take the safe way out by living off of the back gate. To believe otherwise displays ignorance.

Your analogy about the pizza place with bad pizza is exactly right. If a business closes its because they were not able to offerBacking, location and a thousand other things come into to play? Hmmm. Product or service that the public wanted , needed Or desired at a price point that generated both demand and a high enough margin to make it viable .... This is business 101 it's not
Race track specific its just business in general...

Agree, years ago I spent way more time at Sportsmans than I did at Lernerville or any other track for that matter. Was probably my favorite track, back before the Colwells just started screwing everyone that is. Real shame to see what it has become.

Pretty sure Sam Colwell has been dead for about a decade..... I think Jim Colwell is the owner these days.Come on guys, it has nothing to do with Sam Colwell realizing it's easier to profit when you screw over your loyal customers and run a program full of support division junk, it's all like FagJim says, no one goes to Sportsman's because the town of Knox and its zip industry can't support divisions people want to see. So if Sam Colwell decides to go even further and start running tractors and go karts instead of 305s and small blocks, by God, we should just appreciate that they're even open.

I don't give a shit one way or another. Was just correcting you on the name.Sam Colwell, Jim Colwell, joe Colwell, Betty Lou Colwell, I don't really think it matters, the point remains the same, but you have no response for to my post, point out that I posted Sam instead of Jim, and ignore how correct I am in every other point?
Changing feet? Whatever do you mean Fag Jim?

Wasn't directed at you. Was mostly at Fag Jim's drive by style of posting, when his silly post defending Sportsman's is rebutted, he has nothing to say but, "that's your opinion" or "changing feet."

Wow, nasty name calling, how immature.
More than an ego problem I'd say - a problem admitting he's wrong and a huge maturity problem as well.
Everyone has an opinion, just because its not the same as yours doesn't mean its wrong. Unless you're Abe Vigoda apparently. My points stand as valid, not right or wrong and that's why I didn't reply to your post.
Okay, moving on.... today they have a parts truck at Sportsmans Speedway.
