It was W. G. Satterlee & Sons night at Marion Center Speedway Saturday night which brought with it a special feature for their Street Stock Division. The other five divisions also ran with three heats of Lias Tire Super Latemodels, and a rollover that stopped the races in another division.
If you take the letters in the number of the top three Lias Tire Super Latemodels you’ll get what fans needed at the end of the exciting twenty-five lap feature C-P-R. The Lias Tire Super Latemodel feature looked like a repeat of last week, which would have been fine for Jerry Redden, last weeks winner; but Clate Copeman had other ideas-putting himself in the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle. Clate Copeman (28 C) of Greensburg started out in eighth place and worked his way to the front of the twenty-five lap feature that was being led from the beginning by pole sitter Jerry Redden (5 R) and running second close behind him Rod Phillips (1 P) who started on the outside pole. Just after the halfway point Copeman was in contention for the lead and putting lots of pressure on Redden from Mahaffey. Redden consistently held off the attempts by Copeman to pass, but on the last lap Copeman finally got under Redden to blast down the front stretch for the win. Rod Phillips of Punxsutawney followed Copeman around Redden at the finish to take second place away from Redden leaving the former leader in third. Clate Copeman won the Lias Tire Super Latemodel feature with Rod Phillips in second and Jerry Redden in third. Fourth went to Mike Blose of New Bethlehem, and Ken Schaltenbrand from Sarver was fifth. Dave Blazavich picked up sixth place and Dane Laraway took seventh, Doug Glessner was eighth, Matt Gaston ninth, and Brandon Wearing finished tenth. The Lias Tire Super Latemodel field rounded out in the order of Jim Boyer, Billy Eash, Bill Burns, Bobby Watt, Herman Bertolini, Tom Decker III, Tom Decker, Jr., Shawn Claar, Wally Fox, Tom Shaffer, Dan Lee and Shane McMeans-who didn’t take the green for the feature. In the three heat races for the Lias Tire Super Latemodels the winners were Mike Blose, Billy Eash, and Dane Laraway.
The Force Inc. Steel Block Limited Latemodel feature brought Cheyenne Reed from Punxsutawney to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle of Marion Center Speedway. Reed started in the twelfth spot and worked his way to the front to be in position to challenge pole sitter, Dave Buchanan for the lead when on a restart, Buchanan jumped the gun and was penalized the mandatory two positions for doing so. Taking Buchanan out of the front spot left Reed the lead position which he defended to the closing checkered flag. Challenging Reed throughout the feature race was Scott Stein from Cherry Tree and Gale Huey from Glen Campbell. At the end Huey took second place and Stein was third. Joe Petyak of Gallitzin was fourth and Jeff Weakland from Hastings was fifth. Rounding out the top ten Force Inc Steel Block Limited Latemodels were Bernie Whiteford, Dave Buchanan, Tom Jobe, Jason Fosnaught and Gabe Shaffer. The heats for W. G. Satterlee & Sons night were won by Jeff Weakland and Scott Stein.
W. G. Satterlee & Sons’ Night for the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Fastrak Crate Latemodels brought both good and bad excitement to Marion Center Speedway. The feature started with Mike Laughard on the pole and Joe Martin on the outside pole. As the race got underway, Andrew Satterlee moved around the front row to take the lead from Laughard. Just after that, mayhem struck the feature with a collision that put Shane Weaver of Marion Center on his roof in turn two. The incident put the red lights on while cars and drivers were checked out-no injuries were reported, except to cars of course. When the racing resumed, Andrew Satterlee of Rochester Mills had the lead and kept it to the checkered flag for his fourth win of the season. Joe Martin from Ringgold was coming on strong throughout the race, but didn’t catch Satterlee and settled for second place. Third place went to Mike Laughard of Twin Rocks and Andrew Wylie from Saltsburg was fourth with Jeremy Shaffer of Derry close behind in fifth. Rounding out the top ten Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Fastrak Crate Latemodels were Wayne Robertson, John Eckenrod, Paul Dominick, Tray Swindell (in the former Bobbie Black car) and Scott Fitch. Rich Logan, Jr. and Shane Weaver won the heat races and were both caught up in the incident in the feature.
The W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock Special Feature Saturday Night increased the featured race from twenty laps to thirty laps and put more cash in the drivers’ pockets for W. G. Satterlee & Sons Night. For the big event, Joey Zambotti from Kittanning started on the outside pole with Rich Waltman of Coolspring inside of him. Zambotti took the lead at the start and held it for the first three laps. After that, Nate Smith of Glen Campbell took over. Smith started ninth and had the lead by lap four-a lead that he never relinquished to take him back to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle once again. The only person to have beaten Smith this year, Chris Schneider of Springdale finished second and Tim White of Punxsutawney completed the thirty laps in third place. Fourth place went to Ray Hickok, Jr. of Commodore and fifth was taken by Rich Waltman. Rounding out the top ten for the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock Special were Jeff Sweeney, Brett Bingaman, Bob Egley, Gary Furman, Jr. and Jim Handyside. Nate Smith and Jeff Sweeney were the winners of the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock heat races.
Chris Hickok was going all the way from the start of the Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock feature to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle until something went wrong with his car causing him to leave his front position and the race. The car either went up in smoke or steam near the twelfth lap of the fifteen lap feature causing his early departure from the feature. This left the lead to Bryant Small of Cherry Tree who made his way to the front from starting fifth. Small kept the lead to the checkered flag for another trip to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle, his third win this season. Luke Barnett of Mahaffey was second and Ed Vogel of Meyersdale was third. Fourth place went to Nick Fulmer of Marion Center and Jim Hamilton from Coalport was fifth. The top ten consisted of Bill Finlay, Scott Ward, David Beahr, Rich Waltman, Jr. and Mark Wetzel, Jr.. The Willow Farm Campground Strictly Stock heats went to Like Barnett and Nick Fulmer.
In the Micro-Sprint feature, Jeff Bacha of Indiana held the lead for as long as he could until George Hobaugh caught him in the ninth lap of the fifteen lap feature. Bacha started in the second row and took the early lead as Hobaugh worked his way through the pack of Micro-Sprints to challenge Bacha and overtake him. Hobaugh of Carn City went on to win the race with Bacha in second place and Sean McAndrew of Apollo in third. Fourth place went to David Hawkins of Lower Burrell and Lee Lehnero of Cabott was fifth. The top ten rounded out with Allen Foster, Jimmy Horwat, Tim Smith, Johnny Walker and Robert Garvey, Sr. David Hawkins and Sean McAndrews won the heats.

He was at thunder mountain not at Hesston the kid that won at Hesston also had a pro-1 car. Floyd could build a good handlin car.
No tech at thundermountain either... Don't get me wrong, the car is bad fast and handles like a dream. No one is arguing that point...

Marion center needs to put this issue to rest by having a person (an engine builder or somebody that has no affiliation with his car or the track, not a track official) tech his car from bumper to bumper in front of anybody that wants to watch. If he is found to be cheating be banned from the track or forced to move the car up to semi lates. But if he is found to be legal let him run in the ss class as long as he wants, and this should be a surprise inspection so he can't come to the track with a legal car just to pass the inspection. Marion Center has gone down hill a lot over the last ten years, even though they have horrible crappers and terrible officials, not to mention its usually dusty as hell and you can't see a damn thing, they are still providing a facility for a lot of fans and racers to get good entertainment every week. But if there is a car in the ss class that is lapping up to 7th place, there is clearly something that needs to be done.He would likely beat them at Lernerville, also. I never saw a street stock car that handled as well the #28, and the kid does a great job of driving it. Whether it's legal at Lernerville, I have no idea.
