Chuck I have a question, is this motor legal and meet the specs of your semi late class?
GM Performance Parts brings us their “Factory Stock” Circle Track crate engines in the form of a 350 cu. in. HO with an approximately 9.1:1 compression, 350 hp at 5,000 rpm, and 390 ft./lbs. of torque at 3,800 rpm. These 4-bolt main engines have a recommended max rpm of 5,500. These are factory-sealed crate engine packages, complete with high-rise dual plane intake manifolds, stamped steel valve covers with racing-style breathers, and 8 quart single kickout circle track racing oil pans. Parts used in these engine assemblies are 4-bolt main/1-piece rear main seal blocks, nodular cast iron crankshafts, powdered metal connecting rods, and cast aluminum pistons. Installed camshafts are hydraulic flat tappet with .435 in. intake lift and .460 in. exhaust lift with a 212 degree open duration intake, and 222 degree open duration exhaust lobes at .050 in. ground with a 112.5-lobe centerline. Standard Morse link timing chains are installed. Cylinder heads are Vortec cast iron style with 64cc chambers, and 170cc intake runners with 1.94 in. intake valves and 1.50 in. exhaust valves.

Mash the loud pedal.

Yes plymouthman it would be legal per the rules and actually making about a smuch power as the pure stock motors running.

what i don't get is a crate late-model with a 602 is way legal with a simple shock change and i would think with a full field of cars it would pay more in the end. you think someone running in the back of a 602 class would give amp a try at least. if you have any questions on what shocks and springs to run get in touch with Scott Fenton he will not lead you in the wrong direction.

i think the big difference between a crate late model and the semi lates is the front clip but i think i'm wrong, maybe they can run a late model chassis?

the rule as written now requires a full late model chassis, no stock clip cars.

im surprised a lot more guys haven't dove into this class. some of the steel block lates around, are legal with a shock change for it, and the purse isn't that bad at all provided a good field of cars show up.

I want everyone to get Jake's comment; easy to drive, low HP and big tires; we turn our cars around 5600 rpm's every night, that is where the hydraulic lifters and valve train quit working, if it looks like coasting so be it but the car is giving its all. If you ever want to guess the winners; time them through the corners; all cars are fast on the straights.

I do think the 333 cam rule is a little low, that isn't much more than some street cars running on the road!!

I think that is what will keep the cost of the engines down; it would not make much sense to spend a lot of money on the top end and not be ble to let it breathe. It should deter the 10 to 12 K eninges I think?
