Now that Dog Hollow has closed for the year, I think it would be the time for Thunder Mountain to open and help fill the gap left on Friday night. What do the fans, drivers and owners think about this?

agreed. they can pull a lot of cars. only exception I would think, is they should have something different like a modified class, or sprint cars or something

It'd be nice but I don't see it actually happening. 410 sprints, super lates, pure stocks, and 4-cylinders. Bring in a different class each week to be the 5th class.

I think a rotation of like, 410 sprints, Super Late models, Big Block Modifieds and/or small blocks would be awesome but always have Super Stocks, Pure stocks, and fwd's. 4 classes max should be it weekly

I was told years ago by somebody who may or may not know what he was talking about that Audie's wife put her foot down and said no more running a racetrack for you and Audie tried to have family members run it and sometimes it would be 9 o 'clock at night and they were still prepping the track i would think after the crowd that Jeff Taylor had for his special and all the work they did to get the track ready for that race if Audie wanted to run the track even once a month it would have been opened already. maybe someone can lease it who knows .

Not true. She has nothing to due with the track or its operation.

So you are saying that if the wife says no you can't you do it anyhow ? are you married tom ? since you worked for them then why exactly is the place not racing considering the huge crowd that Jeff Taylor had for his special? i think that is what Charlie wanted to know. a guy takes all the time and money to build a nice race track and buildings and put up lights and have a generator wired up just to let it sit just don't make much sense when it was proven that people want to come there even for a special . i know we have enough tracks around but that place was a nice change once in a while.

thanks for the p.m dylchris i guess i guess your explanation is a good one, too much work not enough reward seems like a good reason. would be nice to see someone lease it and run some specials though.maybe a late model ... sprint car .. open modified .... or e mods and street stocks that would be a nice card. i think e -mods would fly around that place.

V.S.I. should take over Thunder Mountain and Warrior Energy Services could take over Hummingbird.

No race ace I'm not married but Audie and his wife have been separated since last fall. She can stomp her foot all she wants now.... It doesn't matter. The reason it's not running this year is strictly financial. The track has never made any real money ( ok here comes the blame game) and they are sick of working for nothing. There were 2 races last year and last year was the tracks biggest money making season. The track is open for lease and there have been a few people looking into it. Everyone thinks that since Doghollow closed TM would be booming. Doghollow closed for a reason. Non of the racetracks are getting rich and the car and fan counts are proof of that. Things are tough and they decided it was better to do nothing than to risk losing their butts by running. It's a great track and we always had fun there. But it's not a risk they are willing to take.

VSI should have the financial means to at least open the track and see how things will go and at some point they should just buy the place. Doing it now would be the perfect opportunity for all of us and then we could make plans for next year knowing what divisions and rules. How about it?

I like Thunder Mountain.

However, businesses like V.S.I. are in business because they make money, why would they invest in a proposition to lose money?

I've posted many times that I think there are too many race tracks in this region, and I still believe that. But, this was one of the tracks that I had hoped would make it. I really like the place.

no dog hollow closed because fans are tired of seeing dust instead of the races if that track was properly prepped they wouldn't have had a problem (to many years of to much dust) just my thought
