That is AWESOME news. Fans need to turn out and support this move. In looking over the rules it seems as if the charger class requires a 305 cu in engine. There are NONE of those type cars around here.... I think the free pit entry for support teams is a great idea.

I might just have to check it out on a Sun, I'm not going to give up my sat night dirt track addiction but your move to Sun should bring in more racing fans. ;)

Finally common sense(cents) has come to the owners of the speedway. It is past the time when you should have listened to what the fans were asking for. Now if only Tony Stewart would buy the track, put dirt on it and run another Camping World series truck race on it like he did at Eldora it would be deemed by Nascrap to be a huge success.

Yup no 305's in this area.

There's always more speed! And you don't have to cheat to find it!

The free pit admission is a good idea, however, does anyone know what the cost will be to put tires on for an asphalt race? I'm guessing about $115 per tire.

Rob is working on a deal to bring in a load of used tires that will be very low cost to the competitors so stay tuned for more news on how this is going to work.

Remember the Keystone Open in the mid 90's? The place was packed! It was fun seeing dirt cars with more HP run against setup asphalt cars. Oh wait, I ran one year too - it was fun.

You ran the Keystone Open? Which car?

I ran Steve Weddles' 99W Hagerstown semi-late in 1995 in practice. That's what made me move to SS. The big tires were awesome!

Ramey,

It was my #2 four cyl in '96. The dirt guys came over from Hidden Valley, they were allowed to modify their engines alot more than us. We helped Craig Lobb with tires and setup, I think he was the track champion over there that year.

So I'm thinking asphalt chargers with 305s vs dirt pure stocks with 350s would probably be an entertaining race. Same with street stocks, aren't dirt SS allowed up to 406s? While asphalt SSs are 358s or 602 crates.

Anyway I hope some drivers make the trip over 8/18 - support division drivers are free!

Most dirt cars have a ton of power. Agree, they would be bad fast on CNB!

I'm actually leaving for family vacation that day. I'm pushing for your favorite announcer, Walt Timblin, Jr., to run the 56 car!

Yes there will be an open practice on Saturday, August 17. Cost is $20/person with a cap of $100 for a car/team. Time is not set yet, but will likely be noon - dusk.

Glad to hear Rob is looking for used tires to help keep the cost down for those who wish to try the asphalt out. Good luck.
