FASTRAK to do testing at Lavonia Speedway Thursday October 10th.

The FASTRAK Racing Series will begin testing a few different items at Lavonia Speedway (GA) in the near future.

1) A re-compounded FT400 tire.
2) A few minor lm body changes
3) A entirely new class
4) Spec engine

"First off I want to say, we are not setting out to change anything" said Stan Lester, Founder of the series. "We are simply researching some things. If you are going to stay on top of things in this business, you need to be the leader. FASTRAK has set the bar for crate late model racing in this country. To stay ahead we need to keep looking at new things. That's why FASTRAK is still considered number one when it comes to this type of car".

"Personally I think we need to slow the cars down a bit and most of our teams agree. We have some tremendously special teams in this series. Some of the teams with pretty good racing budgets have some to me and said the same thing. We need to slow these cars down. Get more and better competition again. There are some things we can do to make the racing better and not cost anyone a penny. That's our intention for doing this testing to begin with. Right now its only concept, but if it works then we can take it to our race teams and actually let them vote on it. The teams in FASTRAK have always made the rules, we simply enforce them".

The test will not be open to the general public. It will be limited to FASTRAK members only. YOU MUST BRING YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD to the gate for admittance. You will be turned away without it. Fans will not be allowed in the stands for this test.

Moving forward the FASTRAK RACING SERIES.

Why do you need to slow down cars that have less than half the horsepower of a Super-late? Please tell me you're not considering Restrictor plates!

I'm trying to take your question seriously but I just can't . Since all the crate cars have the same motor what makes some
Faster than others ??? Hmmmm could it be the handling maybe ??? Seems to me if u made them not handle as well they would go slower ..... Call me crazy but I bet that's the area they are looking at

They should have to run 5000 rpm chips in the msd and if your tach says more than 5200 after the race you are disqualified jmo.

Again...WHY SLOW THEM DOWN? are they going 200 mph, getting airborne and flying into the catch fence? ...or are they just trying to bunch up the cars to give the appearance of close racing? ...sounds like NASCAR.

i think they just want to have more competitive races instead of seeing the same guys win every other race...im not hating on max blair but the kid has over 20 wins this year i would have to say they need to even this stuff out somehow

Pump gas not racing fuel. That was one of the big selling points.

Strait pump gas will wear out a enginefaster thwn the racing gas...I'm still with you but nothing over 100 octane and no oxidated fuels. Make everyone run a hard tire ...then you get into rearends and all the light weight rotating mass parts. Its unreal what guys bave bolted on these cars in the oast...hell I'm not against making everyone run a 602...someine is still gonna cheat no matter whatis done.

Impose a minimum weight and diameter run for all bolt on components and add a 25lb penelty for each part that doesn't conform. A high end crate only rear end is twice what a regular unit costs. Regular wilwood hubs and rotors are 1/6th the cost of the high end super light units ... It makes no sense to limit engines and allow exotic expensive components to be used. Don't make the fancy stuff illegal just make weight penaltys to deter its use. And that 135.00 spec shock is a great idea ... A simple dyno test will show if they have been altered

The weight penalty thing is a great idea. It doesn't obsolete a bunch of expensive stuff. Too many tracks and sanctions have made rules to make racing "more affordable" that actually cost racers more money because they have to go out and buy all new "cheaper" stuff to replace the exotic stuff they already have and can't sell because it's now illegal.

And he is also on his 4th or 5th motor this season because they are reving them higher than the motors can handle. Lower rpms is goiong to save motors.

I have a better idea !!!! Anyone who wins more than 5 races has to fully service one
Of the " feared and revered " Pennsylvania Piss Pigs right on the front straight away for every victory beyond 5 !!! That will cut down on repeat winners !!!

But if the piss pigs were getting "serviced" on the front straight, there might be a little piss to make it onto the track surface and it would put more moisture into the surface and we all know that moisture generally makes for a faster track. This would render Fastrak's proposed changes to slow the cars down pretty useless.

Yes but we already know max is a hell of a driver and set up man and that would show us how good of a " pig sticker " he is lol lol lol

Max hasn't hurt a motor this year, except for the occasional overheating. Only reason the motor was ever changed is due to the fact that it had a ton of laps on it and needed refreshed.

Bill is correct------Max has run the same engine all year until about 2 weeks ago when he switched out because of how many laps were on the engine, but still nothing wrong with the engine

that engine will recieve a quick overhaul (rings, brgs, gaskets) and be in competition at the nationals

the reason you see seal #'s on the FT website is from tech tear downs not failures
