Ok, dirt wins! Start hauling in the clay so we can see packed pits and packed stands again

JMO - I cannot see an asphalt track making any money in this part of the state. Unless they get national touring events, the only crowd will be on the hill having a party. Granted it is easier than prepping a dirt track but how many local cars will be willing to have a car to run on one track? With todays economy there have been numerous dirt tracks closing in western Pa. the last few years, so dirt ovals are struggling too. Put clay/dirt back on CNB/Central PA./Mountain/Clearfield and I will there for every race.

Wait...you state that dirt tracks are struggling, but then say the answer to making CNB a success is to put dirt on it? I'm not sure what the answer is to making CNB a success but it certainly isin't to put dirt on it. Now bringing the touring series in, that would probably work. That or bringing Ferd back to manage it, always packed house back then.

If it was such a success why did they take the dirt off? When it was dirt from 04-10 they had good crowds and car counts but I never thought the racing was anything spectacular compared to any other dirt track ive been too.

I thought the racing was pretty good today. Lots of side by side, some good passing and so on. The Erie/Motordome style modifieds are neat. They just have that look about them. Pure Stock was pretty cool with Hummel (Dan, not Cody) stuffing it in there. There's just something about hitting that setup and being full throttle-on before mid corner.

because the bainey's were a bunch of jack-wads and pulled the wool over everyone's eyes...they got all their money from the dirt fans and then f'ed them over

There was once a line of traffic so long that it reached from the gate back to Rockton mountain and the cops had to come in and TELL the baineys to open the gates early and i am pretty sure NO asphalt races there (before or after that) has had that problem . what was wrong with the place well i think suhoney is pretty close but there were other issues that could have been fixed easily and don't tell me to buy the place and do them myself, i was once told the only person dumber than a racer is a guy who owns the track ,if the asphalt were removed and the track tightened up so it was not such a strain on engines it would have been better, plus who wants to crawl under a streetstock and change gears every weekend because you can't run Hummingbird or a.m.p. gears there .the dirt was put over the asphalt with the intentions of banking some money and then tear the dirt off so the "kids" had a place to play ". when you start packing the place and it has asphalt i will come on here and say i am wrong until then be happy losing money .

The point I was trying to get across racer is that dirt tracks are basically the backbone of western Pa. racing. With them struggling it is hard to believe asphalt tracks will pick up the slack. The economy isn't the same as it was years ago no matter how much we want the good old days back. I want to see CNB do well, I just think you need national touring special events. If it were dirt again, 4 - 6 special events with Lucas or Outlaw shows would almost pack the place. I would like to see the Yankee Doodle 50 back on dirt again with 40 - 50 late models trying to make the show. Again, just my opinion.

From what I remember when it was dirt and ran ran weekly in 04-05 the car counts weren't any better than any other tracks.

If it would go back to dirt (of which Rob has zero plans) it needs to be the big original configuration to set it apart from the multitude of other dirt tracks running.

for how long...i mean there has to be a point where taking a bath on shows has to get frustrating right? i would almost bet the farm that one yankee doodle race did better then all the shows this year combined...

Well, I remember lines getting in to see the NASCAR mods and Busch North series. AND it was damned good racing. One thing for sure, I see their schedule for next year is for Sat nights. That will be tough.

Even in asphalts best days it would be tough to draw a crowd in this area. I like it when there's a good field of cars but let's be real. People in this area can't even name anyone who runs asphalt in ANY series except NASCAR top 3. They can't sell out the cup series at Bristol and you expect to sell tickets to see people no one has ever heard of in clearfield? Just not realistic. Dirt brought regional and national stars that EVERYONE wanted to see. There's passion for that here plain and simple. I know it's falling on deaf ears, just glad I have $0 invested. I'd give a car loan to a homeless guy before I'd make that poor of an investment.

LIKE LIKE LIKE!! This is just what I was thinking, why in the world would you go back to a track the same size as the other 2 in the area?? Clearfield has always been my favorite track because of its size and configuration, it sets it apart from other tracks in the area. Sadly my favorite place is never going to be a dirt track like it was in the 70's and 80's.. :(

there are arguements about dirt not being a success, and there are arguements about the asphalt not being a success. look back over the last 15 years of that track. whether dirt or asphalt. when did they have the most cars, and biggest crowds??? certainly was not yesterday. or any race they've had since they took dirt off. think about it.

I think what we are all hoping for, and some of us working hard to achieve, is two and three deep parking on the hill like when Jimmer, Clate, Gault, Awtey and company battled door to door in the late 90's. I ran an Iceman race (actually wrecked...) in 1999 and it was absolutely packed.
