Yeah, they gave away some passes, but it wasn't as many as people think.

Admission was only ten bucks. The largest percent of the massive crowds they had paid to get in.

There is no need for another dirt track in Clearfield now that Gamblers/AMP reopened. None of the "CNB needs to go dirt" crowd understands that.

Exactly...they will have to lower their prices if they expect to get any people there...they have something like six cars of their own...I suggested getting those cars on the track, and bringing back some past drivers...Jimmer Seger, Tracey Potter, TJ Fleck, Ramey Womer etc...I think that would generate a LOT of interest...

Here is an idea - promote the track. Area Auto Racing does not have the results or that the race was even run. You want people that go to Motordrome come up north? Advertise in that area. Just an idea to let people know what going on. Also, ask yourself this, how many people in this area drive south to watch the races at Motordrome? I hate to see any track not make it no matter the size or surface.

Very nice ideas cats442.

I'm sure Rob and John will look at AARN, Rappin on Racin', etc over the winter and for next season.

The advertising in the Motordrome area is a good idea as well.

CNB mgmt did make a number of trips to Motordrome and Erie's pits to promote the track (that's how the mods knew to come).

AND...promote the track around Clearfield...most people DON'T know what's going on...nothing wrong with contacting different business around the area, setting up a meeting, giving away some passes...((because for those of you that don't know it, concessions are where you make the MOST money)) there were a couple of pavillions up there...they used to be rented out all the time...upscale the playground and make that particular area more hospitable to people with kids... Another thing, going to have to live closer to the track to get stuff done, I heard the rumor that one of them rented a house in Clearfield, don't know if that really happened or not. I have tons of ideas to make the place work, and I don't own it, because like 99.9% of the people I don't have the money.

There was once a line of traffic so long that it reached from the gate back to Rockton mountain and the cops had to come in and TELL the baineys to open the gates early and i am pretty sure NO asphalt races there (before or after that) has had that problem . what was wrong with the place well i think suhoney is pretty close but there were other issues that could have been fixed easily and don't tell me to buy the place and do them myself, i was once told the only person dumber than a racer is a guy who owns the track ,if the asphalt were removed and the track tightened up so it was not such a strain on engines it would have been better, plus who wants to crawl under a streetstock and change gears every weekend because you can't run Hummingbird or a.m.p. gears there .the dirt was put over the asphalt with the intentions of banking some money and then tear the dirt off so the "kids" had a place to play ". when you start packing the place and it has asphalt i will come on here and say i am wrong until then be happy losing money .

id think amp and hummingbirds gears wouldntbe the same? is it really that hard to "crawl" under your streetstock to change gears? id hope you "crawl" under your car and check bolts and such weekly? so would it really be that bigga deal?

I actually like both surfaces. Dirt obviously for the action. Pavement for the precision and sheer speed. There's just something about a screaming pack of asphalt late models with the top 5 picking up the throttle before mid-corner and running 120+ into the next one...

Just a quick reminder. Several years ago Jennerstown decided to have a $2 night to help promote the track and if you did not go early, you did not get a seat as it was sro for those who came late. They sold out of food and the lines for the restrooms were extremely long. I think they can seat about 9000 people so I think you can tell the idea worked especially to bring new fans to the races. I know some other people that read this board remember that night so I would like to hear about your memories about being there that night. They also were running out of spaces to park the spectator cars and some of them got towed which was a shame to have happen at such a fantastic show. Could this be duplicated again? They did a lot of advertising for the event and it worked so Clearfield you can do the same thing. You might want to contact Stan Lasky on how they approached this idea and what it took to pull it off and what problems they had. I am talking about this from purely a spectators view but it was obvious to me that was the largest crowd I had ever seen at the track before.

I drove from Ohio to that race, as stated the place was packed. But did it create new fans ? Must not have because the track now sits empty. JMO

Jennerstown also did VERY well with the NASCAR "Race of Champions" with Sprint Cup drivers in recent years - Clearfield should strongly consider this idea. It was always a sellout event, and their seating capacity is at least triple that of the run of the mill dirt tracks of the area. That's what people never understood about the place. Those grandstands even if only half full still equalled or outnumbered most dirt tracks at full capacity. As for Jennerstown currently sitting empty - the lack of a huge fanbase was only part of the problem. Their last couple years featured ridiculously low car counts due to guys being forced out by skyrocketing racing costs (that was the height of a huge national recession after all - disposable income became virtually nonexistent), coupled with an owner that for one reason or another lost interest. I never give up hope that someone like the guys running Clearfield will reopen Jennerstown, because it is one of the nicest tracks in the country..but with all the damage done by vandals, it's probably a pipe dream.

theres something about an Angry Pack of Dirt Late Models grabbing throttle in turn 1-2 and letting off at the end of the front Stretch at 130 or 140 mph and slingin it sideways on their way back into turn 1 and 2..... haha

You don't have to worry about seeing that happen at tracks you attend like AMP and Hummingbird.

You will NEVER see a dirt latemodel go that fast at amp or hummingbird so...good luck with that thought. very few dirt tracks and say they have a latemodel that can even reach 100 mph. Dirt LOOKS fast, but in all reality they are going slow. they spin out and stop with in 10 feet. on the pave track when they spin, they will slide half way down the straight. hell the pavement street stocks will slide that far and they are essentially a dirt Pure stock. The speed is the difference. and pavement is just a different style of racing to enjoy. everyone that comes on here that complains about it being "boring"...is just ignorant to the fact of understanding the WORK it takes to be fast at a pavement track compared to a dirt car. Tiny adjustments on pavement can take you from being slow to a winning car or visa versa. Dirt...its forgiving, and hell ive seen guys loose a cyl. and still be competitive and win at times. on the pavement you might as well pull in cause youll be lapped in two laps.

I like dirt. because they have the car counts right now, and there are more tracks, but if Clearfield can find a way to get 15-20 cars per class, there will be NO ONE on here saying its boring...haha but yet, that remains to be seen.

Go to a real racetrack before you speak. Some of the speed/crashes at places like ppms, lernerville, Sharon are downright scary. But you would have to venture onto one of those big scary fast interstate highways to get to a track like that.

LMAO!!!
You need to leave Clearfield County if you don't think dirt late models routinely reach speeds well over 100 mph at many tracks across the USA.

The typical bullring DLM's radar in the low to mid-90's. Of course the larger PA tracks like PPMS, the Port and Williams Grove see easy triple digits. I actually love dirt racing and own a dirt modified. I also happen to have roots at CNB and absolutely love the asphalt and the speed it brings. The success of CNB depends a little bit on dirt vs asphalt but I don't think that's the main hurdle. We'll be working hard to generate cars and fans over the winter while still respecting our brothers and sisters in dirt. Who knows, maybe next years Keystone will be a rousing success.
