Lernerville has required stock trannies in their DIRTCar Sportman division for as long as that class has been in existence. I've never personally heard of anyone being injured by a stock tranny failure. I'm not saying it can't or hasn't happened. But, I have not seen any evidence where the inherent danger of a stock transmission's explosive failure potential demands that all stock cars should be allowed a Bert, Brinn or Falcon unit. They, and quick change rear ends, are unnecessary for any stock class. Animal touched on it. You racer's are your own worst enemies. You want to run these classes with equipment used in SLM's, Modifies and Sprint cars, but for less than a third of the purse, and yet you wonder why the stock classes at some tracks struggle to have enough cars for two heat races. I don't understand it.

then there are alot of stocks not legal at lernerville (or they are like marion center and just don't advertise the allowing of those trans) its not the stock trans that come apart the clutches do and its not so much injuring people as it is damages to other equipment when they come apart (not just that single car but some following) just my opinion

price a new triple disc and associated parts to install it compared to a new falcon or even a used falcon or brinn- that can easily be rebuilt for about $100.

Quantify " a lot" of Stocks that have illegal transmissions. I have heard of only one car that may have been using a Bert at some regular Friday night shows.

I see your point with the tranny causing damage, but the same thing happens many times when a drive shaft breaks.

I suppose we could sit here and argue until the Next Coming about what equipment should be in these cars. And none of that matters if they aren't teched properly. But I've been around long enough to know that if more expensive racing components continue to become part of support division racing, these Stock classes will die off.

You can't base your rules on what some guy has ... And you can't compare the price of a used quick change to a new 9" you have to compare apples to apples !! That thinking is why emods are soo expensive now

the semi late class WAS created out of what was laying around someone's garage. now someone on here from around this area come on here and call me a liar !!!!it was a brillant move by a man who owned a few older chasis and wanted his son to be able to race with what was lying around and like i said it was a brillant move because it worked out fine .nobody is asking to eliminate any classes but since the streetstocks and the purestocks are out of hand, try to come up with a reasonable compromise there is no way a purestock should be running double pumper carbs and triple disc clutches . i had a latemodel driver from bedford come up to me in the chili race line up and ask me where in the heck they ever came up with the streetstock rules because he had never seen such setups and animal was there and can tell you that this is the truth.

Actually, I believe the concept was the the tech man's idea. I know he spoke to me about the class when he was at Hummingbird and actually sparked my interest there. I think it has potential to develop into a very large field of cars because of the affordability. Was the timing perfect for our program; yes it was, but it was far from my idea. I would like to take credit, but that belongs to Jeff and Kevin; once the concept was discused around here, then Nick and Jake both talked to me about pushing for this class at Clinton County for several years.

I would not change any rules in the Semi class; but we have a spoiler permitted this year; this is how it all starts; we ask for something and then something else and boom you have a class that is no longer affordable; it comes down to keeping up with the Jones's. The class produced some very entertaining racing the last half of the season and was gaining ground every week.

I hope to see cars in the 20's this year and hopefully they will run earlier in the program in 2014, instead of last!! ;)
