After seeing the video last night on the news it looks like they have their work cut out for them to get the place ready to race. Looked pretty rough....

Back to the 4 cyl debate. Racing is about being fast in your budget, Salvage title 2006 cobalt SS, Less than $1500 bucks =205 HP. Any old neon price, to modify motor to get 200 hp $3000, looks like simple math to me. But on the serious side any four cylinder car poses great danger on asphalt, particularly higher hp modern era cars, there is no stucture to them anymore and speeds should be kept in check with a hp restriction that is strictly adhered to.

Dont kid yourself- a winning 4cyl for 1500 bucks is a myth. I will gladly take that bet anytime you'd like to make it. Or you could do a little homework and then get back on here. Spend anlittle time with the drome guys then get back on here.

I have a buddy that bought a cobalt ss with a salvage certificate for 1100$. if you get one of those cage kits for a couple hundred bucks and put it in, theres a winning asphalt 4 cyl. for right around 1500$ if that's the way someone would want to go. those little ss cobalts will move.

Cobalt SS is super/turbocharged..don't believe those are allowed at Motordrome/Jennerstown or we'd see at least one of them in competition.

First of all there are alot of cars pushing alot of horsepower in that division so to even think you could build a cobalt and run well if you had no experience- well I'd take that bet too. secondly there's suspension/tires...Which will jack the price up for sure. Thirdly there's a high probability a junkyard motor will not make a full season the way they run them. Do I think they are cheaper than Chargers-yes but not by much. 9 or 10 years ago we ran when they were 2.2 auto and older- we raced 2 years- ran top five the entire second year- built the car entirely including sending to have cage done and I gaurantee we didn't have 3000 into everything for 2 seasons (not counting fuel and admissions). that's the way it should've been- Stan took over drome- opened it up to Jtown cars which did not have the same rules and was out if hand already and proceeded to let the class get even more out of hand. There truly is nO entry level class left if by definition it's based on 1. spending little money 2. Having a chance to win with a mediocre car. 3 running a fairly 'stock' car. 4.guys using that division as a short term stepping stone to a higher division.
