Hi Jim, it has been a long time, and those were a good times. Gill was always the life of the party. I think racing was so simple back then. People didn't have to mortgage their houses to race then. Hope to see some time.

Hope to run into you sometime Mike , the last time I saw Dick we talked about that same thing , he said how much racing had changed , you bend something or break it you just buy a new piece and bolt it on , not build it yourself or go to the junk yard and get your parts.

I will be very pleased to FINALLY post some great scans of #422 coupe, from about 1960, in the coming days. couple of pictures, an original 'junked' car, Pennsylvania title, a letter of reservation for the car #, with the sanctioning body, at that time, and a very kewl scanned image of the original set of rules. please pm me, if you remember a Mr. Ralph Wagner, who raced briefly at Butler Fairgrounds, around 1960. Thanks! I know there may be a few out there who knew him, AND would LOVE to hear from you, if you did. The WildWon

Yes Manny it is still there if you go to the Big Butler Fair and go in the grandstands and sit down for a demo derby or tractor pull that is where they raced. Don Martin just bought the lease from Jim Lockhaiser and closed it so he had the only local FRiday night track.

I am not sure Manny , I think it was in the early 50's if you know Butler at you may know where the high school is.
I think the fairgrounds was on the New Castle street hill where Butler high school is now.

I'm not sure what year, but I believe it's true that the old Butler fairgrounds was where the High School campus is now.

Won of the roads into the high school , is called fairgrounds hill road or avenue.

The Butler Fairgrounds speedway in Prospect (at the new fairgrounds), closed in '69 or '70, for most --- if not all ---
dirt circle track racing.

That sounds about right the next time I see Jim I'll ask him when he sold the lease to Don Martin.
