OK guys---here's something we are working on that we hope you will find interesting and would want to be a part of: We have an opportunity to have a FASTRAK NE Tour race at Motordrome Speedway in Smithton, Pa....it is an asphalt race. This has been talked about for many years but this could very well happen; however, that depends on you, our competitor's and you our fans.... What do you think? If it was a decent paying show would you like to experience a tour race on asphalt as well as the nice facilities it has to offer? Obviously there are some issues to deal with (mainly tires, etc,) but we need your feedback. The sooner you respond, the better. We are trying to think outside the box and mix things up a bit...your input is important. Thanks, Jimmy Henry Please pass this on to other FASTRAK racers and fans. The bigger interest is shown, the more probable this will be. #keepcalmandplayinthedirt

I kind of like the idea. It is something different and might attract some asphalt people to dirt racing and vice versa.

Do a back to back, Motordrome and Jennerstown. Would be awesome to see. Could promote a whole weekend out of it.

Count me in. I've always wanted to try pavement. I like the Jennerstown double as well. I've been to Jennerstown back in 1993 to watch but I have never been to Motordrome. Been considering a trip there to watch sometime. Getting to race there would be all the better.

It's defnitely a cool idea. I like to get to a couple asphalt races a year and dir late models would add variety to one of those asphalt races I go to. One question though... do you put them on asphalt tires, or going to put them on the hardest dirt tires, like they've been doing with dirt modifieds on pavement up in New York and out at Mahoning?

I'm pretty sure Dirt Late Model magazine did an article on putting a super on pavement. From what I remember, they had a hell of a time with taming the four link suspension. It was a real bear to set up to turn. I think they had tire problems too. I'm going to look around for the article. Don't forget! Dirt is made for racing and pavement is for pussies. :P

Lets try an open practice first to see if are cars are capable to react and be safe enough for our drivers.

My guess at this point would be FT400 or 600 but I would leave it to a tire professional---have a Hoosier rep. on hand to check tire wear after practice sessions. My goal is to have the competitor's race for decent money, keep expenses as low as possible for this event (if it happens) and do something a little different.

I don't know about Jennerstown but a double-header is the idea, for sure...

CNB Bank Raceway Park in Clearfield had dirt cars on pavement for the Keystone Open. Big engine dirt street stocks ripped around there.

I know our biggest concern was driver safety at the high speeds achievable but it would be something to look at if the package were right.

CNBBRP owner Rob Hindt can be reached at rob@ontrackracingexperience.com if you'd like to discuss.

Back in the early 80's when the three tracks went asphalt more than a few super late drivers would run Lernerville Friday and switch the car over and run Clearfield or Jennerstown on the asphalt Saturday. Actually until both tracks went to the glorified street stocks NASCAR calls late models most all the drivers were running dirt super late chassis. Many of Steve Peles wins in the early days of asphalt in the area came in a Ray Callahan Bullitt Chassis. Also around the same time Clearfield hosted the STARS late models to run a couple races on the asphalt and it was a pretty good show even though Larry Moore cleaned their clocks both races.

You can’t be serious? This is a terrible idea. These cars are absolutely not made for asphalt racing, regardless who has tried this in the past. Andrew Wylie

i do think it would be neat to see, but i have too agree with you, these cars are not made for asphalt.

you understand a chassis better than me, what do you think would be the biggest issue? i have visions of driveshfts coming apart, breaking spools, and a few dollars spent on new axles if they make it through the race.

I see total carnage lol! Way to many moving parts on a four bar car. Chassis flex and so on!
