SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODEL WEEKLY SERIES EVENT ADDED TO PITTSBURGH OPENER THURSDAY, APRIL 10 FEATURING NDRL LATE MODELS & MODS
By Mike Leone
March 31, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Imperial, PA)…RUSH Racing Series directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone were informed today by NDRL management that the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Late Models will be added to the season opening event at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway on Thursday, April 10. The Sweeney RUSH Weekly Series event will utilize PPMS’ regular payoff and will be joined by the NDRL “Kings of Dirt” (Super) Late Models in a $10,000 to-win event along with the NDRL Modifieds.
So far two Sweeney RUSH Weekly Series events have completed in 2014 with Ben Bowie and Chad McClellan winning the March 21 and 22 Potomac and Winchester Speedway openers respectively. Potomac will host another event for RUSH this Friday, April 5, while Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex is scheduled to opener their season this Saturday, April 6.
John Imler and John Over are currently tied atop the standings for the $5,000 to-win Sweeney Weekly Series Championship that pays down 40 positions this season. The Thursday, April 10 event at PPMS will not only award these important points, but will begin the quest to be in the top 10 of the PPMS points to qualify for the Pace Performance “Summer Chase”, which begins on July 1. “Futures Cup” points will also be awarded for those eligible racers.

I've never been to ppms but that is ridiculous that they make you stay all night until the races are over like you said some people have to work the next day or what if you don't feel good and want to go home or what if you want to beat the traffic or any number of real reasons to leave before the races are over do they make exceptionsThe regular purse will hopefully keep the crate car count reasonable. 15 crates will be more than enough. I've seen 20-car crate features at PPMS take an hour, nobody needs that on a Thursday night so less cars is better. Maybe they'll run the crate feature last instead of holding people hostage on a work night.

in all fairness I have seen 10 car late model races take an hour to. I'm sure late models will be run first.

Sure, but people go to see the Late Models. There is nothing more irritating for people who have a good distance to travel back home than to be held hostage by having to sit through support divisions. Especially on a work night.
