John Brady won the late model feature. Fuzzy Fields won the SS. Ivory won in the semis (00).
I left at 9:30 as the fwds were starting their feature.

1. Some racers race to race and go where they can get to best payout so they can race again.
2. Some racers race to race and go where they can have the best chance of winning.
3. Some racers race to race and go where they can have the the best competition.
4. Some racers race to race and go where they can win years end points.
5. Some racers race to race and go where their car owner wants to race.
6. Some racers race to race and go where their close to home.
7. Some racers race to race and go where they can afford.
8. Some racers race to race and go where they can.
Cutting the payout and raising the back gate, takes reasons 1,3,7,8 out and half of the reasons for racers to show up.
It leaves the track with:
Racers there picking and choosing to get a win.
Racers there only for year end points, trying to buy a championship through attendance.
Racers there because the car owner wants to go there,
Racers there because the track is close.
Remaining fans will be there for the same reasons remaining racers are there, not because of the show.
Kart tracks can make it on the last four reasons because of over all cost for racers to go race. I doubt a car track can do the same, because of higher overall cost to race. The only way a car track can survive is to put on a show and put fans in the stands. Put on the show or close the front gate.

They get no cars because there's too many tracks running on Saturdays. The market is too crowded. If he really wants to make a go of it, he has to make the track bigger and go to a specials only schedule with some interesting shows that people actually want to see.

Both Clearfield tracks have been through multiple owners and or promoters. The results have been the same.
The common denominator. They all tried to race Saturdays against each other, or against the other area Saturday night tracks, or both.
When will someone figure out Saturday racing just isn't going to work up there???

I hate to say it, but it would be better off if both tracks closed or ran a very occasional midweek special. There aren't enough fans or cars in the Clearfield area to support any track running weekly.

Just throwing this out there. how would fans and teams in this area react to a different type of format for the late models?
Twin 20 features every night.
No heat races.
One lap Time trials, fast qualifier draws the invert for the first feature. If you have more than 20 cars, the top 16 are locked into the feature and then run a 8 or 10 lap last chance race to fill the field.
Winner of the first feature draws the invert for the second feature.

You can try to say that until you're blue in the face, but If he was doing very well, it still would be, and the cash flow problems the place has wouldn't exist. How small the place is makes it seem like there's more fans there than there actually is.

all im saying is the place was usual full last year and had good car counts all year...i think there might have been only a couple times last year the late models had under 10...this is 4 weeks we have been there and the last 3 have all been under 10 and the first week was 11

did anyone ever think raising the late model weight limit to 2400 pounds ran most of the potential late models away.
