It doesn't matter how good the track prep is an afternoon show won't work. The track will be garbage. If you want to run Sundays start at 6 and run an effecient show having everything wrapped up by 9.

sunday show may work. would take a few weeks to catch on. when saturdays rain out it would be big! dust would definately be a problem during sunny breezy days. some drivers like a slick track. starting early is most likely the best bet. start the races early so the working man can get rested for monday morning. mc & hb are very strong because of thier roots. hard thing to overcome. some drivers and owners think winning the points at hb or mc is everything !! payout is 2nd in importance. 1000 to win super lates sunday. sounds real good when you got rained out at the home track and need a fix. there is a very poor economy out there. we are not going to increase car counts by new cars and teams starting.

at the original rules meeting the street stock class meeting started out like this from Jeff taylors mouth ......everyone in this room is a professional race car driver , now you might not think that is true but if you need to make enough money too come back next week .... now he went on to say " i know nothing about street stocks pure stocks and late models i am a sprint car guy and i will let you all vote on what you want in your classes "then a few weeks into last year the people that did not show up at the meeting wanted to run their headers and tripple disc clutch ,double pumper carb PURESTOCKS and the rules were changed no meeting needed so the class never got a vote and how was that fair?i know he had to do something , so here is an idea combine your purestocks with the lower end street stocks and make the streetstocks an outlaw class and see how things pan out when nate smith comes down and kicks ass then see how fair things are .have a damn meeting and find out what the problem is don't just shut the doors things can be fixed , i know that there are lots of cars sitting in garages that are in between street stocks and purestocks i have one, maybe tweek the rules and make the in between cars weigh more and let them run purestocks or something. hey kip 77 where is your old car at? like i said i know of lots of cars sitting i just don't know why .

Weekly payouts don't mean shit. Never have, and never will.

nate smith will not run anywhere but marion center and dog hollow . everyone thinks he is so special cause he wins at marion center and dog hollow when is the last time you seen him win from the tail of the field he always starts in the first 2 rows when is the last time anyone seen him at a ss special at mercer (little guys nationals) or lernerville (NEVER) y is the ? my opinion is he is not that good in traffic when they start making him start at rear at marion center or dog hollow see if he hammers his way back up through the field to win my guess is he will beat on some cars and he won't win

About 95% of this thread has been total bullshit..(roughly 10% higher than average on here). The track has no intention of closing or changing days. Website will be updated in next day or two, purse cuts have been restored with a couple changes in pay back through the field. Once again hiding behind screen names makes everybody an authority on everything... If you're gonna stir the shitpot, you may have to lick the spoon...

I agree, I think this place could be great, the surface is good I like everything about it.
You need to have rules and have them set at the end of the season so everyone can get ready all winter.

Glad to hear they restored the payouts, now I hope the cars come rolling back in..

Actually TimW beat me too it...
I just had a lengthy phone call with Jeff... He said since this post his phone had been ringing off the hook....
One thing we did talk about is.. (Someone stated it above) It doesn't seem to matter what he does, good or bad (depends who's perception it is) he gets hammered...
See you all back at AMP in two weeks..

Adding a couple bucks to the purse isn't going to fill the pits
Taking a couple bucks out of the purse is what emptied the pits!

Touché' Tim W, Well said! Now, Mr. Taylor (what appears to be a knee-jerk reaction) decision after only one race this year. That decision made for a lot opinions on this forum. Now with 3 months of racing left it's not too late to make good decisions and get back what it could be.
Cutting the purse will lose cars, cutting the purse without a discussion with the racers will lose cars and lose trust. Reinstating the purse to what is was on the first night is a start but, still have the trust issue. I believe that the weekly purses DO MEAN SHIT!!!! If they didn't then everyone would go race for no purse, and make the owner very wealthy. I highly doubt that Legend and Bacon Bits (if you race) tells the Mileys to keep the winnings!?!?!?
I don't understand the logic with several on here saying that Hummingbird and Marion Center's roots? Everyone complained about Mr. Potts for years, and Louie is Louie what else is there to say. His mind is made up period. So with all this said, It is all about treating your "talent" with respect and honesty. Pay them a fair purse and treat your fans the same way the track will be successful. It doesn't matter what night you run, you show them the respect they will be loyal to you.
To the management at AMP, earn the trust back and you will flourish. Sundays, in my opinion, will not work, unless you make a rain date.

I personally believe a switch to Sunday night would be very beneficial for the track as well as drivers. Eriez has been running sunday night pretty much since the 60s and it can work. Pretty sure you would get a pretty good turnout.

raising the purse will help some but mending the relationships with the drivers you have ran off is the only way the crowd is coming back . sometimes being the bigger man and swallowing a little pride goes a long way, not saying he should bend over and take one for the team maybe a handshake and a welcome back would be a nice move. there are more cars than the three latemodels /semi late models missing.
