You shouldnt have to watch out for push trucks in the racing groove when hustling a 900 HP death trap

I was there watching from the top row of the pit stands looking straight down the front stretch.

It was one of those things you watch happening, but do not believe it is happening.  As others said it was over in the snap of the fingers and the sound was an instant loud clap of the hands, followed by silence and disbelief.

My first thoughts were of his well being and the well being of those in the truck.  I quickly realized and thanked God he hit the most rusted out bucket of bolts of a push truck, there ever was.  My thoughts then turned to thanking God again he did not hit the push truck with the beautiful planked wooden bed.  If it would have been that push truck...

Then the racer and race fan in me took over, when I looked over my shoulder behind me down a couple of spots to the right, into the pits.  It was a rainy sloppy day and in the time it took for the ambulance to negotiate its way around the track and back with Sammy, the crew had another car ready for him to race from out of the trailer.  He would not be able to use the car but it was there waiting for him, ready to race if needed.

If he would of been paying attention he wouldn't have driven into the push truck.
He was looking at the infield scoreboard to see how fast his time was.
He even said it in an interview.

The truck was not supposed to be that far down the front strech. Wasn't supposed to go past the infield opening, let alone be in the groove.

Sammy could have easily been killed.

Very easily.

If you would have seen the car, and the truck afterwards, you'd understand.

Bad deal all around.
