You people who don't go to PPMS because you don't like the Mileys are cutting off your nose to spite your face. There were 35 Sportsman cars, 18 Pro Late Models, and 16 Late Models last night, and the racing was excellent all evening. No track in the area is prepped week in and out as well as Pittsburgh, including Lernerville which has good track prep about half of the time. I must say Ring Gear, you're the first person on here to blame the Mileys for the demise of John Kennedy's NDRL. Just my take on things, you can agree or disagree.

Are you serious racer17l??? Your comparing PPMS Pittsburgher to the Firecracker 100 which is a crown jewel event in a lot of peoples eyes with the top names in racing compared to watching locals at ppms for the Pittsburgher??? Are you serious??

The point is Mr. Sparkle, the race track is always slick as ice for the Firecracker, which isn't conducive to lots of passing. I love Lernerville and don't miss a Fab Four show unless I'm out of town, but in spite of the Firecracker having lots of big names, it's usually a pretty boring race.

I race at PPMS weekly and can admit its not what it was in the mid 90s either. But at the same time will say the track prep compared to 2005-2007 is remarkably better. The concessions are pricey but the food is very good. The bathrooms are always clean. We are usually out of there by 10 pm. If people chose to ignore those facts and bash the place that's their deal. The whole my track is better than yours is counter productive to the sport.

I'm saying the 2013 Pittsburgher was 100% hands down a better race than the 2014 Firecracker 100 in my opinion. Now obviously the 2014 version won't be. The issue with the diehard Lernerville supporters is they can't accept the fact the track prep and the overall experience is not what it was 10-15 years ago and they take it personally.

According to people like Huck and some others, dry/slick is how the touring SLM drivers want it. I don't know how much truth there is to that but, I went for the Friday night portion of this years Firecracker and the racing sucked ass. Period. The track was terrible. The difference between myself and Flash is that when Lernerville screws up, I'm one of the first on here to raise hell about it. Flash takes anything lemony from PPMS and makes lemonade out of it, which is fine. But, don't sit here and bitch about Lernerville and pretend all is well while Rome is burning.

Skull, I hear ya. I guess my point is irregardless of how bad or good PPMS may be it has nothing to do with the racing at Lernerville. The above comment shows that perfectly, I talked about a dry slick skating rink at $40 to get in (which, if it happened at PPMS, this board would implode) and the first response is "well, it's better than the Pittsburgher!"

Having a great surface is important, but it is only part of the equation in running a successful race track. PPMS is highly mis-managed. The crowd in the stands proves it. That place used to be a booming business and chip by chip, the ways the Mileys do things have reduced the crowds to what they are now. Somehow it keeps holding on by a tread, but how much longer will that be? How much better would it be if capable management had the track? Most people that go there now go because it is convenient and no other reason.

On the track .... It's not safe to throw the green flag on a wet track and they have insisted on doing just that for the last 15 years.

In fact Sparkler there arent as many people around the racing community that share your view of the firecracker being a "crown jewel" type event. Just becuase it pays a lot doesnt make it a "crown jewel," in my eyes theres only one crown jewel and that is the World 100, with a close second being the DTWC (and even that has lost its luster once pennsboro closed)
And to the fact that management keeps some of you or some of your friends away, it makes me wonder how many other places do you boycott because of the people running the operation? Does the questionable activities in corporate America keep you away from stocks and bonds? Does a poor food service industry manager keep you away from a place that has good food?
If what you "race fans" base their decision to go to a race or not go to a race because of the promotor and what he or she does, what is going to happen to Eldora, the most famous track out there now that the person in charge is in such a terrible situation where people "think" he "may" have killed a person. It should have no bearing whatsoever on you supporting a racetrack or not if you truly enjoy going to the races. Period.
And Ring Gear, you get on here and bash a race that your favorite driver has been to probably every year since he began driving a late model or has been involved with racing. I also would like to know when you actually GO TO A RACE, you seem to be on here posting results that you get from other forums or other media sites about Gregg when you could be at a racetrack watching a race. I understand that economically it isnt feasible at times, but I have yet to ever read a first hand account of you at a racetrack.

I have to agree with Huck on this one, the way the bottom of the track is completely soaked is terrible. It is totally unsafe as well as taking away some great racing, with cars running top, bottom and middle. The track is wide for a reason, use it all.

Both tracks can, and usually do, put on pretty good racing these days.

Paul, I agree. The landscaping would take a few days and make a world of difference! I was sitting wit Poljack looking at the back shute saying the same thing.

No Mr. Street Stock, I go to Pittsburgh and Lernerville, because the weekly racing is generally very good. I could go anywhere I want on Saturday night, but I CHOOSE to go to PPMS because I enjoy the racing there. I don't care what the food costs (I don't eat there), I don't care about the politics of running the race track, I don't care that you can't bring your own beer or fast food in, I don't care how much it costs to get in, I don't care about anything not directly connected with the racing. When drivers quit coming or the racing there ceases to be entertaining, I will go elsewhere. And Skull, I wasn't blaming Lernerville for the slick track at the Firecracker, because that IS how the touring series want the track, just making an observation, which is why I go to only a few of the "big shows" anymore.

for the past 25 years they have done just as much as they have had to..not one bit more.how bout the pit road thats unblievable trying to get your truck an trailer through all the ruts. and they have a grader sitting in the pits.
take for example the LED yellow/green/red lights they tried to put up a few years back, great idea and much needed but the wiring from Heidelberg wasn't up to the task so instead of improving the infrastructure they got rid of the lights.
I go because I love the track..when PMS is prepped right you won't get a ride like that anywhere else besides maybe Eldora though its slightly smaller.
