The last communication from Thunder Mountain on here was when they released their press release awhile ago saying it was reopening and that they were undecided as to which divisions they were running.

Guess contact Bo Lockwood the new promoter to find out.....

I don't know how anybody could call a clip car a street stock.

Wouldn't that just be an e-mod with fenders?

It would basically be the old super stock class from Marion Center.

9in......3 link...no bird cages...no 5th coil...no wide 5 hubs...no spring pull bar......biscuit pull bar only......coil overs....(shock rule).... j bar or panhard bar

just my idea of a rear suspension for street stock........

Camaro stub or 68 to 72 chevelle like an e-mod.... geometery is much better than a metric front......

I'm not saying these rules are a good or bad idea in general, but it would be a terrible idea for a track that has struggled in the past to get cars to throw away all the existing rules and start all new classes that there are no cars to support.

This class sounds like it would be a step up from current ss. Why limit cu.in., tires etc. Put an all steel motor rule in, wheel size, and minor things such as no dry sumps.

I just picked up a csc 3link clip car since a lot of tracks are gonna run them as streetstocks this year. this will change the class for the best i believe there are a lot of these chassis setting around that can be picked up .

There isn't a track in the area that allows an outrite CHASSIS CAR/CLIP CAR  with 3-link ,pullbar ,quickchange, panhard bar ,etc. That calls the class STREET STOCK ,or anything remotely close ! Sorry !  "CALIFORNIA DREAMIN"  if you think you'll get any car count to boot . CRATES ,and SEMI LATE / STEEL BLOCKS are more cost effective.

Clip cars are stupid. I don't see why any track would run them with the street stocks we run now. They would double the cost of a car.

Have you tried to find a good g body frame in the local area lately? They are getting few and far in between. The stupid thing is that racer's are spending 15-20 grand on stock's to run for peanut's. That is not stock class money being spent these day's.

The frames are still available, but using a emod and running it with the stocks now wouldn't work. If you want to run a emod there are plenty of emod classes. The stock rear suspension is what levels the playing field.

If you are going to do it that would be the only way. The problem with doing a clip car with coil springs is how do you determine stock suspension mounting locations? Also you would need to stay away from non factory 3 link cars because you got guys that bitch about getting beat by guys with high dollar engines. Well pair that high dollar engine up with a true racing suspension and see what happens. Metric cars can still be found and so can used street stocks.  Everyone thinks that well those cars can be found cheap so that would be a good viable option. Well when you get everyone building those cars the cost will continue to escalate and the class will eventually come to the point that is not even worth building a car when a competitive crate late model can be had for damn near the same money.

Dump the cars, run s-10, rangers, dakotas. Toyota, small pickups. Have two or three divisions, could have 4,6, and 8 cylinder divsions. Stuctured so that one could continue to use existing motors. While moving up through the division. Keep chassis real close for the division so u can gradually upgrade. Plenty on small trucks out there and they are still making them
