Mike as much as I love Mercer. I think it's a huge mistake. We will get dales opinion at Cocapoah this weekendMercer is sticking with the All-Star sanction for our July 4-5 show.

You can blast him all you want, but he's right about this one. Right now, the All Stars should be called the No Stars because they have no cars committed to the series. They had one, Dale Blaney, but Webb pissed him off too. And Guy Webb shit on the rest of the guys who usually come to his shows, so they decided they won't be supporting any of his. Mercer's All Stars show will probably get Ed Lynch Jr. as an "invader", but that's really it.

1970 was first season. Didn't run again until 1973. Sanctioned the Knoxville Nationals, Williams Grove National Open, and the Western World at Manzanita that year. Came back in 1979 as MOSS (Midwest Outlaw Super Series). All Star name came back in 1980 and has been continuous since then.

Nobody can say with any certainty what sprint car racing will look like seven months from now. We have the largest weekly 410 field at Mercer in Western Pa. Even if the All-Stars don't bring a bunch of cars that means local teams can take home the lion's share of the increased purse, instead of like it has been forever where the purse goes up and the Outlaws or All-Stars ride out of town with the majority of the money. Add a couple dozen Outlaw Warrior sprints on the card and it is realistic to see over 50 sprint cars.

3799 and exactly how many times do you think fans will pay extra to see the same weekly cars race ? Or is admission the same for an all star race as a weekly show ?? I've never met Guy Webb but when you call a guy who's underfunded AND the only person to win the Knoxville nationals who isn't named Donny Schatz since 2006 .. " c level talent " it seems to me Webb would be better off working a smode booth with sunhoney than promoting sprint car races
did he really call Tim Shaffer " C level talent"?

I am not defending or trying to interpret anything Guy Webb says. I work for Bill Altman, not Guy Webb. I think we will be just fine when July 4th gets here. Like I said nobody can say with any certainty what the state of either series is going to be when July gets here. Look at the fields for most All-Star, Outlaw, even Renegade races. The majority of the cars are local racers. Now if it turns out there aren't that many travelling cars it's a chance to see a bunch our local guys make some good money on one weekend, not just one or two cars. it's not 6 races like some tracks are doing with Renegade. It's one weekend. I think it's well worth it to pay a few extra bucks on one weekend and support the local drivers.

I have no problem paying a few extra dollars that would be going towards the local drivers, but I guess what I am reading is that people are paying the extra money to see an All-Star or Renegade race and the drivers that are running with their respected series of choice, not the local guys...I on one hand like to see the invasion of talent, but then the odds go down for the local guys....pick your poison...

You can't argue with 3799 about Mercer. He thinks it's Gods great gift to PA. Track is going to crap. Dusty one lane racing. It's a shame that a track with that much potential is being run into the ground.

My best guess: Someone high profile buys the allstars because they value the storied history of the series. With them they bring in some good talent to race the series (not saying they didnt have it last season) and the renegades and all stars become one again over time because the whole problem they had was webb. And as far as Mercer they may be making the right choice by not jumping on any bandwagon just yet..... I could be wrong but doubt it.....

Wow that's bad PR to insult drivers by name like Webb did in that interview. He said those drivers are in their 40's and 50's. That's a little bit of age discrimination in that comment too. Isn't Blaney around 50 and he is praising him?
