Having to rely solely on a third-party application to inquire about the status of your establishment is pretty pathetic. Great idea, but it is only applicable to about half of the fan base who are consumed in technology.
Half the fan base? I would think more than that have cell phones. I have a basic flip phone and I get the Rained Out texts from PPMS without any problems. I would suspect Lernerville's work just as well since it is the same company.

Yes, unlike other tracks, lernerville just uses rainedout for cancellations, not to spam you all week about this weekends race (which what it is meant to be used for).

We called Lernerville 3 times on our way up, with no answer. That is pretty unprofessional in my opinion- atleast put up a recording stating that the races are cancelled. Instead, the J-Barn Inn restaurant in Sarver recieved ours and other race fans' money we would have spent at the races, and it was well worth it.
We drove through the storm during our 2hr trek Northward, so I can understand the cancellation. However, it'd be nice of them to pay a young dirt-track broad $7.25/hr to pick up the damn phone on RACE DAY to answer the simple question "Are you racing tonight?" At $14 a ticket, the attendance of 1.58 persons (that bought adult tickets) would supply the funds to pay a 'secretary' minimum wage from 5pm-8pm to answer that simple question every Friday.
I am anxious to see the administrative changes the new owner implements. Maybe then the locals will receive the same amount of effort to get a show in as the Outlaws do.

Effort? You don't run 33 straight shows by playing fair weather. Any one of us can point to at least one night during that stretch when we thought we would miss the races or go home early because of rain. The reason people, like you, would drive any distance without even knowing for sure if they've cancelled on a questionable weather night is because of Lernerville's reputation for getting in the show. How many other tracks in the area would you even give the benefit of the doubt like you did on Friday?
As for being consumed in technology, you say that you called 3 times on the way to the track. Unless you found 3 phone booths, I assume you have a cell phone. I know that text messaging can be mysterious, but it's akin to a letter sent right to your phone. No envelope, stamp, paper, or postal service required. Get one of your grandchildren to help you subscribe (link provided on this thread) and you'll get one of those new-fangled text messages when Lernerville makes the decision to cancel. No message, no cancellation. I bet even fanmods uses this system.
