Benny has always been a heck of a wheel man on the asphalt. He's only run a few dirt races until this year. He's run pretty well at thunder mountain for what little seat time he has on dirt. He's won and is consistently a front runner. Not sure if you thought he went from thunder mountain to nascar? It was the opposite. He's been running asphalt his whole life and just recently switched to dirt a little bit.

That wasn't even the point and I don't intend to take it in that direction further.

I was genuinely interested as to what Benny Gordon has done to get where he did, as little as he's accomplishing, it's still NASCAR. Let's use Jonathan Davenport as an example and pretend that the trucks or xfinity wouldn't be a step down for him at this point. JD is killing it across the country winning everything and is still young. It would stand to reason that someone from NASCAR would take notice and offer him a ride. However he isn't there and Benny Gordon is. By all means please explain to me what Benny Gordon ever won or anybody that ever heard of Benny Gordon before he was in the Hooters Cup. Where are his gold medals? Honest to God, I truly never heard of him before 2005. No jealously there, but don't try to tell me his accomplishments on the track warranted a NASCAR ride or that money didn't put him there.

If anything he's a shining example of why NASCAR sucks.

A couple years ago AES Racing entered Davenport in a truck race at Martinsville. He didn't qualify for the race, whether the truck had mechanical issues or just not a good handling truck. But, I would bet JD is better than many of the other drivers that made that particular race that day.

Since when did anything concerning NASCAR come down to pure talent?    You think every Wallace got a ride because of talent?   Do you think Kerry Earnhardt got a chance because of talent, maybe Brett Bodine?    Racing is no different than any other job.   Its who you know, not what you know.   Its not the talented driver running low budget, its the mega $$ team that PR's the hell out of everything, and networks with the right people in NC.   I don't know Benny Gordon's whole situation, but so what?   So what if he didn't have funding, so what if he had a dry spell. Guess what so did Johnny Cash.   Anytime someone has big money backing, and a hard time proving results, there will always be those people who arm chair crew chief.   The difference between him and Legend?

One has more than enough time to make daily stops on Racestud, exercises the hypocritical oath, and makes educated character references based on people he has never met.

The other, if even on here, minds his own business.

Personally, I'm not cheering anything NASCRAP national series related. That shit is straight garbage, and stopped being about the actual racing a long time ago.

The xfinity series is a joke anymore, if you are driving for cup owned team you might as well not show up.

2003 Hooters Pro Cup Rookie of the Year

2004 & 2006 Hooters Pro Cup Champion Northern Division

2005 & 2008 Hooters Pro Cup Series Champion

There were several years that Benny stepped down as driver to become crew chief to allow funded drivers to race the team car to keep the team going.

As with many people that race I don't believe this team has a ton of money, however he had enough guts to walk away from Central PA and try his hand competing elsewhere which is commendable. Nothing wrong with racing where you want to either, but trust me it is very hard to step away from your comfort zone to go and do anything especially something as stressful as racing.

Just saying I never heard of anything Benny ever won or for that matter anywhere he ever raced regionally before he was a SlimJim/Hooters Cup guy. Never heard of him running against Barry Awtey, Mark Cottone, Rick Miller or any of those other asphalt guys back in the day.

It's okay to say he had a little money or some backing and bought himself to a higher level. They all do it anymore. Not like the Dillon boys, Joey Logano' or Cole Custer to name a few had to mess around running weekly winning at local tracks and paying their dues to get noticed these days.

Benny worked in south Carolina for a # of years and raced there prior to running in Hooters series. Hi think he moved north after he started. That's why you never heard of his short track racing locally.

Don't remember how he did, but Snooky is correct...he raced at Central PA for sure because we raced there at the same time...never ran a full season because he was busy trying to get things going in the South.  Had ((and maybe still does)) a pretty big shop in DuBois...for me personally I will support any local person that goes South and tries to make it...because trust me, it's not easy...I've been down there numerous times, talked to a lot of guys that are down there, "trying to make it," seen a ton of little garage teams, "trying to make it," few do...

The dirt car stuff is all housed in DuBois, the xfinity cars are down south now.. At one point they had a shop up here and a shop in the south..

He has ran some local stuff.. I remember when they promoted him coming to Central Pa Speedway (asphalt) to race the local hero Jimmer Seger..

I give him lots of credit.. He gets the backing to field a car. Even if it is on a limited schedule.

The difference between Jonny Huck and Benny Gordon is BALLS! Benny has them and Jonny Huck doesn't. It's that simple. Benny goes to nascar events to compete, he wouldn't do it otherwise. He won't start and park. He goes to compete for top 10's, even though the odds are not in his favor. The Huckster goes to the world, pittsburgher,... To say he was there. He lacks the testicular fortitude to compete at his level. Benny has very little experience in a dirt late model, yet isn't afraid to strap in and give it a shot at his local track. The incredible Huck won't even run locally against guys he should be able to compete with because he doesn't have the marbles. Oh I know he will say he doesn't have the time or the drivers in the area don't know how to drive, but it's a lack of guts and balls. He knows if he shows up at say Thunder Mountain, Marion center, hummingbird, eriez,... For a late model special, he would get embarrassed by guys with half the motor and lesser equipment.

As far as gold medals are concerned, Benny was a stand out high school wrestler. He has the medals covered.

Your reading comprehension is a bit off. I wrote that you are afraid to run against guys who have inferior engines and inferior equipment, because when they smoke you it would be an embarrassment and your fragile ego could not handle. Never did I write you're afraid of speed, although you weren't too speedy at Eldora this past weekend.

As for being cock sure about my guys. It would be embarrassing when they beat you in your high dollar car with your high dollar motor. I pretty sure that's not a knock on them.

Hooked on phonics or ABC Mouse are good to improve reading comprehension.
