There will be a driver's meeting for all strictly stock drivers at marion center to discuss 2016 Rules on Sunday Oct 4 at Dave Potts house.

Advertisement says to RSVP by calling: June (724)388-6212, Rich (724)388-6462  or emailing pottsjanet64@gmail.com

IMO I hope they reel these cars in a bit.  Their rules are a bit out of hand as it is.

haha!  if that happens they might as well make them run street stock.  the only difference would be tire size and suspension.

Exactly. Rich gas the great idea that a Bert is cheaper than buying a clutch. He said he can save the racers money

He's right a triple disc ($730) Throw out bearing ($100) stock Saginaw 3 speed ($150) is more expensive than a used $800 Bert.  But it's the principle.  the name "Strictly Stock" should mean stock parts or stock replacement.  A Bert is not a triple disc isn't either.  I'm against Berts in a Street Stock even.  it's thinking like this that is killing the sport.  that class should be running stock flywheels.

OEM I think is a better way of putting it.  If you were to say only what is manufactured currently you'd be limited to Camaros, SS's, mustangs and chargers and challengers.  everything else is FWD anymore.

First off.... Why in the hell is there ANY 'strictly stock' running a triple disk?

By rights , in my opinion , they shouldn't even by running a manual tranny....Automatics only...

I'm forced to ask myself what issue are they trying to address?

I would say, the fact that their "strictly stock" is pretty much everyone else's street/pro stock with 8" rubber. That isn't a bad thing except that they also run street stocks.

I don't agree with automatics only.  you have more options in a standard, and 3 and 4 speeds came from the factory.  but I do agree triple discs are pushing it even and to suggest a racing transmission that isn't even close to stock I say is dumb.

If the words strictly stock do hold true, no one running an 81 and newer metric frame should be allowed a manual transmission because they were never build from the factory with one.

The only reason they are probably having this meeting is some driver already has one, got caught, and was pleading his case that it was cheaper. If they allow it the strictly stocks and street stocks and too close from a rules perspective. What would stop a mid pack street stock from dropping back to 8 inch tires?

Ramsey that is false.  Technically all monte carlos were made automatic, however the Camaro's were still made manual.  Some strictly stocks are Camaro front stubs with 2x3 channel connecting front and rear, and that is legal at most tracks around.

hatorade the only thing that would be stopping a street stock from dropping down technically would be suspension and engine block.  Pretty sure Marion Center's rules state 350 block.  I know there are people breaking that rule, but to answer your question, that is what should stop a SS from putting 8" rubbers on.  That's why I say the should combine the class.  opening up the purestocks to racing transmissions, you might as well open up shocks and weight jacks too.

Definitely agree with you on the combining the classes. I was hypothetically speaking on with the simple fact that there is no tech at Marion Center.

Once again, uniform rules among the tracks and enforcement of these rules would better suit this class. You have MC further opening up the class and Dog Hollow going to a crate motor.

Does MC even tech? Tracks like this have ruined stricly stock.
