Keep in mind Kyle didn't nothing wrong, he just used the system, and made it work to the tune of how many million 5 or 6?

It's the playoffs.  KyBu got in, advanced, and won in the championship round.  Simple as that.  It's different from what we're used to, but it's what's in place.

I doubt he was sitting around with a broken leg plotting to work the system.  He worked hard to recover, and worked hard to make the best of his abbreviated season.  Good for him.

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

So I did read that was changed. They gave him a waiver for not running all the races but they did change it to needing to be in the top 30....

Nope. The rules were changed BEFORE Kyle broke his legs. The only thing that was not black and white was whether he'd be allowed to be in after missing races. Guys have missed a race or two before with no issue, but never as many as Kyle. You can't just sit out as a strategy or to save money. He had a legit reason and his team/car kept running. Racing and football are not the same, but to make the comparison....... if a quarterback gets hurt in the preseason and they lose a bunch of games with their backup, then the quarterback comes back and they rattle off a bunch of wins to barely make the playoffs, does anyone question them when they win the super bowl?

I see nothing wrong with Kyle's championship...he had one heck of a comeback...he's one of the best drivers out there today...what I see wrong is The Chase itself...

^ yep.  I pretty much stopped watching nascrap with the original chase format.  I haven't watched more than a few laps since this elimination stuff, and I go back to the days of watching all of the irrelevant, boring stuff on wide world of sports just to catch a few laps of nascar or indy cars.  At this point I'll watch whatever hits MAVTV before I'll give more than a few seconds of my eyeball time to nascar, and 0 eyeball time to the commercials.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

I still can't figure how Dale Jr. won at Texas.  He was in the pits, changed tires, got to the "start/finish line" in the pits before the leader got to the start/finish line ON THE SPEEDWAY, so that put him in the lead.  Then called the race.

That is correct. It's stupid, but correct. Even during green flag pit stops, if the leader crosses the line in the pits before the "new leader" on the track, the guy in the pits is credited for leading that lap. It only affects things if that guy stayed out for the sole purpose of leading a lap or in this case if it ends the race at that convenient point.

That is what they claimed, but Dale Jr. WAS NOT THE LEADER.

I kind of like the races where NASCRAP says that a driver sped on pit road even though the teams radar gun proves different, the tach and telemetry, and electronic timers all prove different !

More than kind of, pretty much exactly.

What really bothers me is that Gary seems to be starting Lernerville down that path.  When is the last time Kelley got sent to the back for spinning someone, and now they're putting the lapped cars in the back on restarts from the star of the race, and doing the nascrap "lucky dog."  I hope I'm wrong about Lernerville, but I don't think anyone can argue that Gary cares more about the racing and the long term money than he does about the short term money and back room deals.  I just hope the Thompsons catch on to it and start looking further down the road than opening night.

Well, if you were a fan of the sport, you would know that 22 of the first 23 years of NASCAR, the championship was won by someone that did not run a complete season.  I think you would also know that Richard Petty would of only won 4 championships.

Stock Stroker........Seems to me you have your facts backwards!!  Petty almost always ran the full schedule. It was others such a Pearson, Lorenzen and others that didn't and that helped Petty in points!!!

Walt, I think David Pearson would have won 3 or 4 championships if he had run full schedules. 105 wins is a helluva lotta wins, and surely would have resulted in multiple championships had he run the whole schedule most of those years.

I could never understand why Pearson never wanted to run the whole season. Beside keeping Petty short of his milestones it would have een interesting to see what changes would have been.
