Pretty much that ^.

A lot of the old drivers still have great memories of North Hills, but it only worked for a few years.   I still miss the track, and the racing.  I really don't see a weeknight track working nowadays, The economy won't support it and it's way more expensive to run a track now.  The government has to have their hands in it, and get too much, plus it costs too much to race.  When North Hills ran late models were cars, alcohol fuel was illegal in them, (not that that stopped everyone), and the gas was $.30.  Even modifieds were real cars when North Hills ran them.

I would love to be able to go to the races 4 nights a week, but I don't see it happening.

In 1974 a fellow competitor encouraged me to come down to North Hills on Thursday night because they "only" had about 17 late models. (but they were all good ones)

Legend. I think north hills closed in 78 or 79. I no it was close to that. I've said it on here before gene Pennington was going to build us a car for 350.00. 350 jon. and the racing was real good. Payouts back then where minimal, but, so where your expenses. My cigarettes back then where .21 a pack. LOL. THAT'S FRIGGING FUNNY. I quite back then to save money. Gee Wiz. There was some type of race car in every dam garage you drove by. THE INTERNET JON ? He'll we all that was why the crew from lost in space got lost.

You no. Back then there where so many great 1/2 mile fast dirt palaces. If you didn't see a good race one night, saddle up cause tomorrow's race could be better. Bedford, J-TOWN, Scmuker's, Motordrome. And you guys are right those summer sizzles where o so cool. Out of those 4. Fast, Fast, Fast. And you didn't have to go to a outlaw race to see the best.

I now think I no what happened. US older guys destroyed all the good racing. LOL. ENJOY...

Hey Walt, those were indeed good shows.  However, mid week specials usually only showcased 1 or 2 divisions as I remember.  Nowadays, tracks want to run a full regular show along with the special divisions.  That just doesn't work.

Why do I like racing ? Well the colors are bright and there is a lot of movement, so it holds my attention.

They want to keep you there to spend money on food and beverage. Profit, it's the bottom line. Which it should be. People lose sight of that.

Kutztown aka Action Track has a very successful Wednesday night program. They only race during summer months and run the smaller classes but fans have bought in.

They got a big pile of big name regional drivers racing there too. I mean, Dale Planck comes all the way down from way upstate New York to race there.
