So,you know our 1600 right rear, 1325 tire rule.

You've seen our proposed point fund and series purses.

Promoters are now asking me what drivers can we expect if we sign on for a race or 2?

IF YOU LIKE THIS CONCEPT CAR OWNERS AND DRIVERS, THE PROMOTERS NEED TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Can get some drivers to speak up who are interested in running this series, please?

Thanks,

Jimmy Henry

Come race with us when we get the schedule together---you'll save a ton $$ in tires and race for a very good purse.

We'd love to have you.

Now we are getting several racers asking us to allow 2 of the America Racer compound equivalent.

If we do allow this, will it double our tire bill?

Racers, car owners and promoters, this is your series, not mine.

What do YOU want?

No it won't because guys who get a deal on ar's aren't allowed to run Hoosier and vice versa. There are places like Pittsburgh that you can't even run a 1325 in a heat race. Many of the Lucas shows in this area are 1425/1600/ lm40 with having 1425 only on the 3 corners and 1425/1600 only rr. If hard tires are the goal it should be either 1425 3 corners and 1600 rr or 1600 all around . And I think the ar48 is like a 1425 so you could go 48-with a 56 only rr. If you allow both company's they will both donate to the point fund.

Thanks for your insight Jon. Just to be clear,I don't want the tire companies to dictate what tire rules are best to save money for the racers.

I want YOU,the racer/ car owner to decide what is run. Again, this isn't my series, this is designed by you.

While I wouldn't necessarily turn down tire money to help with point fund, I will not accept the money in trade off to run tires that will cost the racer money.

This whole series is being built upon decent purses and BIG savings on your tire bill and using harder compounds that will allow the lower budget teams a real opportunity to be competitive.. will not compromise on this.

Without these principles as a foundation for the series, we simply become just another series. And if that becomes the case, then I will just do something else. :)

I agree with the 1425s on lf, lr and rf and 1600 rr.

What is the minimum weight rule, if it's been discussed?

I doubt this will change but pretty much the standard industry rules:

2300 aluminum engines

2250 steelblock, ct525 and 604 crates

We mayor may not be tweeking with 604 and 525 weights, though. While we want them to be competitive,we don't want them to have an advantage.

Thanks,

Jimmy

im just a fan but why even have a tire rule? Why not allow all brand and compounds?

When allowing all compounds, teams with bigger tire budgets put new, soft tires on constantly because they can afford to ruin them in one race and replace them again for the next race. This levels the field and lowers cost by taking that advantage away and allowing tires to last longer. It's also harder to get horsepower to the track with harder tires, allowing teams with less hp to remain competitive.

Good question, Justin314...

I can't speak for why other series have tire rules (if they do),but our reasoning is to cut waaay back on tire expenses. If there are no tire rules in place then racers will have to bring a truckload to each race. And, at roughly $150 per tire, that's alot of money.

The racers are creating the tire rules for this series themselves. They have opted to save themselves thousands of dollars on tires by going with a harder compound that will last much longer. The harder compound should also allow underfunded teams the opportunity to be competitive since grip will be an issue.

I kept this very basic but that should help answer a little. Thanks for the question.

I remember very clearly sitting in a friends race shop a few years ago and he showed me his tire bill for his super late.

The bill was for 7 or 8 races during Florida Speedweeks...

His bill?Over $8,000....
