I have a fresh rebuilt 604......with yellow seals from RUSH....if I finish top 3 in one of your sanctioned races....how will you determine if I have after market rings/pistons........oil pump/spring........bearings....I don't even know that.........all I know is my rebuilder is Rush approved and building by the rush rules..........

so what will your tech guys do?

If your tech people say I have to remove my motor for a tear down, that would be a joke and I don't think anyone would be willing to do that who isn't running your series every race..........

My assessment of this deal is your announcement in this article will keep potential racers away from your events without your specific series seals and running for  points money.........

I'm just a hobby racer looking to finish as high as I can each race for the money......screw the points.........

I'm just wondering how you entice  cars from outside your series....maybe it's not a big deal for your series...I'm just thinking as I read

If your motor has Nesmith seals you can find out who rebuilt it and ask what bearings or rings it has in it. Rush uses Nesmith seals and rules for 604 rebuilds

The yellow seals that some of you are referring to as RUSH seals are actually NESMITH seals, which means your engine is built to NESMITH standards. I know my engine builder tore my engine down the middle of last season and I asked if I could use a better more dependable oil pump, and he told me that wasn't permitted. Each seal is serialized and recorded as to where it is located on the engine. IMO, they are the most tamper-proof seals in crate racing.

FASTRAK the only series left with all GM crate engine parts?

I am often asked why won’t you let his series or that series engines run with FASTRAK? Well I wonder that sometimes too honestly, but I hate to see our guys that have supported us all these years feel like they are getting screwed by allowing crate engines that have parts other than GM

I know I have heard people say well the GM parts are too high. Well my question would be did your builder charge you any less? How do you know? I have yet to see one actually be cheaper than if it were built back with all GM parts, have you?

It’s like a lot of things in racing and it’s unfortunate really. You’ve seen it time after time with weekly tracks. One track changes the rules just enough that their cars can’t go anywhere else and race. Series with crate engines are doing it as well now. Just enough that our guys are legal to run with them since we are all GM parts, but their guys are not legal to come run with us.

Then I hear well we are trying to help racing. Are you really? Exactly how is that helping racing by making engines illegal everywhere, but with you?

Now on the other series behalf, there was a time when the GM parts were nuts. We didn’t go after aftermarket parts, we went to GM to fix the problem and they did. They are the ones that were making them so we had to be patient as things don’t move all that fast sometimes in big corporations, but wasn’t going to them and keeping them all GM the right way to go about fixing the problem?

Now we have crates engines with all crate engine parts. We have crate engines that have basically become spec motors, not crate motors at all. Where does that lead us? What does the future hold for crate racing if this continues to be the cycle? To me and this is just my opinion. If it’s not all GM then call it what it is, a spec motor. One would think that would be pretty simple.

I don’t like turning people down and the tracks that hold our events shouldn’t have to be punished just because someone got an idea on how to keep their cars from going anywhere else. In the end I guess it’s all left up to the race teams. If they continue to support series that aren’t all GM parts, why would they ever change? If you don’t you can bet they would change back to a REAL GM CRATE ENGINE before the end of the week. In the end, like always it’s really up to the race teams themselves.

A boycott of his series... and that series..... seems the logical action with the specific info provided.

Thanks for the information.  It doesn't help me, since I don't have a car, but I can't see why it wouldn't clarify the rules of your series for someone.

Message boards are not always good places to feel appreciated, even when you are appreciated.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

stan is telling the truth. what you get built for rush is not legal for fastrak. that is if you ask for what rush allows.....stan is a good man........let it go.....

If his intention was to inform, then state the facts, ( specific components or modifications allowed by others that are not GM per spec), or get someone who can.

The original rant is hard to follow with all the anger that is unnecessarily mixed in throughout.

I believe he means well, but it doesn't come across that way as it reads.

Can someone explain to me how any of the non-gm parts Stan listed in his post produce more horse power? As best I can see the non -gm parts such as pump/spring can add to the longevity of the motor......rings /bearing manufacturer whats the difference?............

I would think allowing Nesmith seals would be profitable to Stan's series .................there's so many things that come into play with HP....that the small potatoes are just that..........Am I missing something.......................

With the state of racing one would think you would welcome all cars with sealed motors..........

Is there any relationship to this article with the one Rush posted last week on the hows and whys of the rush seal process ?

Rule #2 under  ENGINE
.
"Effective January 1, 2017 FASTRAK
seals will no longer be
permitted"

Likely the root of the rant.

Spend more money guys. At this time of year to change any rule is WRONG. What a load of crap.

Stupid rule yes, but it's effective in 2017. You have a year to adjust or tell them to shove it and move on to something else.

Tires, easy enough of a cross over.(BUT each has their own stamp/spec tires)

Fuel, VP mixed in with your Sunoco 'marker' fuel will likely get you in hot water in winner circle tech @ a RUSH event.

Engine, internals will likely get you in hot water in winner circle tech @ a FASTRAK touring event.

I see lines drawn in the dirt by both series.

Neither series is in it for the racer, it's about profit, period.

Racers aren't in crates to make a profit, it's a fun hobby for families and friends .....and an obsession for some.

I do believe with the lines that have been drawn in the dirt, and the way each series handles itself, one will be gone sooner than later. There just ain't enough racer/fan $ to go around for two touring series to exist...... profitably.

That was also in the rule book last year. Was not just added! I don't agree with it but we will see how it plays out. We've all heard the Fastrak seals are easier to cheat and that may or may not be so but the engines that appear to never have been opened are the ones to look out for.

So if the motors are all stock from fastrak why was I told that my fastrak seals won't be legal for rush next year? Any truth to that?

Probably because you have to be a rush member to get rush seals.

I think a lot of sanctions don't look at a Fastrak sealed motor as guaranteed legal because it's so easy to remove Fastrak seals tags.

I'm not a rush member and I just bought rush seals for my rebuild....my authorized rush builder just rebuilt and sealed my motor.........

You don't even need to be a rush member to race in any of their events..........just comply to their rules........

all i can say is, once you change over to all the rush stuff, listen to your motor bark....... don't know if it adds hp, or what, but it sound like it has more crack to it.....

After watching Mercer Saturday and the Stampede last year, I would speculate that some crates are more equal than others.
