Some who got the clay? From what I can discern, Lernerville,

PPMS's track is good where it is at. Since 2006 the track surface has been really good.

I've been going to PMS since we started racing there in 1985, and if you disagree with Tommy that the racing surface is top notch since 2006 or so, you have an unrealistic expectation of what dirt track racing should be. Sure there have been a few bad nights here and there, but that's not the standard. The Underwoods do a tremendous job with that track, especially considering the equipment they have to work with. I went to Mercer last week, and was pummeled with dirt/dust so bad that I couldn't even see turn 1 (as I'm sure every other lap crash down there indicated, neither could the drivers). Almost every time I've been to Lernerville or Roaring Knob it's so dusty that you need clear glasses on to even watch the races. Even Charlotte has ruined several pair of pants from all the dust staining them. PMS is RARELY ever like that, and the racing there is some of the most racey you'll see in the area. You might be able to bash a lot of things about that place, but the surface definitely isn't one of them.

It's unfortunate they don't follow Eldora's business model.

The track prep for last year's Pittsburgher weekend was incredible and showed how far they have come from the dreaded calcium days. The first night had Ferree and King battle side by side for the lead for the entire feature, the second night had plenty of battles in the heats, and the third night produced the 4th best race in the COUNTRY, as voted by some of the biggest industry representatives. It is all too common in dirt racing for the track to be terrible on the second night of a 2-day show, but to have the track be that good on the third day of a 3-day show is nearly unheard of. There's only a few tracks in the country that can pull that off. PPMS has a lot of issues, the track prep isn't one of them.

You need glasses to watch at Lernerville? I've been going there since 1972 and I can recall maybe a handful of times out of thousands of races where I've had to turn my head or shield my eyes. Even over the last 8 or so seasons when it has been bone dry at times, that has almost never happened. You do realize that smaller tracks like Mercer or Sharon tend to have visibility problems when they are dry because the dust never settles.

I can see why you hate lernerville, I mean by looking at your results there, making the b main is a win to you.

The track conditions that  Brian and his Dad are able to produce with their limited, dated and downright dangerous equipment and limited manpower is to be commended!

I have nothing but the highest respect and admiration for all the competitors, employees, volunteers, and safety crew at the speedway. There are a few total DB's everywhere, but we won't be hearing from the main one, here, anymore thankfully.

With that, I expect dust and dirt flying at every dirt track!

When it obscures your vision it's time to decide what is at stake for you with you performance and position and decided if it warrants pulling it in.

Predicting and adjusting car and driver to the surface change is the true mastery of this sport.

The dip created by the repair of the timing line needs leveled, period. It's unnecessarily hard on late model motors and quite a bit of chassis bottoming out, over revving, unloading, and  shock loading of drive lines goes on there every week.

Standing water is another issue, the  Lucas race was what it was because the standing water was forced to be run in

And just how many B Mains were there at Lernerville last year??   Or at any area track for that matter!!!  Usually B Mains only with the sanctioned races.......WoO, Lucas, All Star, etc.

Unless it was a sanctioned race there was no b mains. Few, if any tracks had full weekly fields.

How do I know what he runs???  He hides behind a fake name like most on here!!   And the crate races at Lernerville are sanctioned and special events, which draw larger fields.

I don't hate Lernerville. I actually love Lernerville. And trust me, it doesn't bother me at all if you're trying to make fun of me for running like shit outside of PMS, I race outside of there maybe 1-2 times a year. I've never gone to a different track thinking I was going to win. It's purely learn and get some laps under
My belt. But thanks for keeping track of my results for me!

Walt, I don't know what's gotten into you in your old age, but you've become quite rude lately. I have nothing but respect for you and everything you've done for the sport, so that's all I'm gonna say, but I hide behind nothing. Christ, there's a picture of my racecar next to my name, and my first and last name is in my signature under every one of my posts. My screen name is just that, a screen and it's also my email address, and every screen name for every forum I've ever been on. But I've hid from NOTHING in life sir.

It's a sad day when someone who has served his country and supported and competed in local dirt track racing for 20 years gets attacked on this board because he had the audacity to say Lernerville was dusty a few times and he wore goggles?

He had to run a B main?  So did 40 other drivers at the Stampede. Including Pegher and Montgomery.  Maybe they should hang it up too?

The racing world needs more people like Justin, not less.

j20000...not trying to be rude to you or anyone!!!  Just stating a fact that I don't know who you are!!  You might be a Mini-stock driver who only comes to Lernerville once a year!!. But I guess you must be Justin Lamb, who races mostly at Pittsburgh, but didn't notice that at the bottom, sorry!!   And now I do know who you are!!

GOOD RACING!!!

That track has been awsome for many years and yes the dip  in 3 sucked for a while but they fixed it .. the clay is stripmine mud from the hill over yonder .. so for what they have and what they have to work the track it is a miracle that the track is that awsome !
