The superstock back then are the same as the street stocks today.  They had stock frames under them and weren't allowed to run the wide 5 wheels.  My dad ran that class with Reed and those guys before he moved up to Latemodel, and they are pretty much the same as the street stocks today.

 

Rusty Nuts, I agree.  I like the look of a stock nose on a square street stock body.  Similar to Bob Connor's car and Kyle Shannon's car.  I like the rule, I just don't think it was a wise decision to implement 3 weeks into the race season when guys have already put the money into their cars.  They shot themselves in the foot.  Marion Center cars from last year and the year before that had those noses can't come back and probably wont spend the money to change their cars around to come back.  My car is one of those.  Nate Smith's car is probably another.  The VSI guys used to make a trip down there and they wont now.  Same with Tim Bish.  I just don't know that a rule like that is worth losing 5 cars (potentially more) or an additional $250 a night assuming each car brings a driver and one pit help person.

when you get accidently bumped into the wall at the bird, go buy a legal nose and bring the car out to pinchy we will help you mount it up and close in the rear panel .i like the new camero nose how about you ?

The superstocks back then were stock stub cars.Todays street stocks i cant call these cars street stocks but more like semi lates. Bedfords semis look more stock than the streets do

THOSE are semi lates. I can't understand why each racetrack comes up with THERE set of rules that only hurts the racer in the big picture. Why is it so hard for a group of people to sit down and come up with a set of rules that would benefit all parties. Personally, I feel cost should be one of the biggest factors when changes are made. Don't come out and say it's out of control. It's been that way for years. Everyone has there opion on bodies, tire and wheel combo's, trannies and motors.

Semi late, Street stock, pro stock their all supposed to be basically the same type car. Those cars in the pics arent allowed all the aftermaket suspension parts and late model type bodies/nose that the Northen Pa  street stock whatever they call them have. Opening night at Bedford the feature winner and 2nd place were dq'd for aftermarket control arms and they were regulars at the track. Jim Saylor, who was a top competitor in this class for years, took his semi late to Marion Center  2 years ago and couldnt believe the difference in what they were allowed to do to their street stocks there compared to what he had lol.

The penn Ohio series pretty much sums it up. There are PLENTY of guys (drivers and fans) who like the rules just the way they are. They just finally got fed up with racing for $300 to win and $40 to start and told their home tracks to get bent because they don't provide any incentive to be loyal. Start doing something for your points racers again and you might get more than 3 cars racing for points.

It's a little bit more than just buying a new bumper cover  and closing up the rear to change my car over.  Believe me I've been looking at different ways to do it, but pretty sure the final result would be the same.  build a new bumper.  Don't have the time or the money to build a new bumper and buy a bumper cover.  My car will be in pinchy this weekend I hope getting scaled.  if there's a way to use a bumper cover with the bumper I have now and be legal, I'm all for it. 

 

And yes, I love the look of the new Camaro front end.  Bob Connors car looks really good with it.

so from the pictures I've seen online, it appears much like other rules, that the No Late Model style nose rule isn't being enforced?  What's the deal?

as long as your car does not have the big elephant ear front ends all of the cars i saw had regular front ends on them .

Do you need a stronger prescription?  Or does a sticker kit that looks like a stock nose constitute as stock.  Look at the pictures from Saturday.  The 54E and the 23 clearly running dominator and MD3 style late model noses.  Sadie Sigel in the 91 Latemodel nose.

Look closer. None one of these noses are MD3 or dominator style. They are dirt noses with the molded ears fastened to them. There is a difference and it's clear to see.

I disagree. They may be called something other than MD3 but they are still a wedge nose.

They are called classic dirt noses and molded dirt fenders. Same exact thing I have.

congratulations you have something that isn't specifically called a Late Model nose.  Still doesn't mean it's not.  Sadie siegel's car has a Late Model nose and it even has MD3 stickers on it.  Colin Burke's looks identical.  Not trying to take anything away from any of these driver's.  Just trying to understand what rules the track feels are important to enforce.  I would haul my car to MCS if they are going to allow that nose.  Just saying.  But I was told that the nose had to be stock appearing.  No wedge or late model noses. That rule was not enforced...end of story

Maybe if you contact somebody at the track you will get the issue cleared up about the noses. I see that the rules state no late model noses and then says no MD3. Maybe that's where the confusion/grey area lies. All of the cars you have referred to are running the classic dirt noses with the molded fenders. Some are just fabricated/fastened differently to the front end and fenders. Sadie's nose is the same thing. If it was a MD3 nose she wouldn't be able to run at Lernerville. I've seen the car up close. And as far as the MD3 stickers go, when you order the headlight decals they come with the MD3 stickers also. That does not mean that it's a MD3 nose because she has the decals on it. Lastly, I don't see an issue with the MD3 noses but a few tracks around don't allow them and they have the right to enforce that rule. JMHO

Foz is right on. Go look at performance bodies 80's stock Monte Carlo noses and you'll see they even are called MD3 and have the md3 stickers.
