As a racetrack PPMS had little to no value. As property for a potential buyer for development of expansion it is worth 3 to 4 times that value. The Miley's were never going to sell it for it to progress as a speedway. As much as nobody wants to hear it. There making a business decision that many speedway owners have made for many years. Reading fairgrounds, South Park, Ascot, Heidelberg and on and on. One day the same fate will happen to Lernerville, the development around the track both residential and commercial are making it a valuable asset. The Tomson's understand that also.

Dutko is clueless, most of the criticsm is warranted. How much criticism does the King family, the Gundaker family, Helfrich, or Slack get? Very little because they are good, personable people who care about their facilities and their patrons. The Mileys had their chance to be a great, RESPECTED, legendary promoting family that everybody speaks highly of, but their egos got in the way.

From what I was told tonight at Lernerville by reliable sources is that basically nothing is set in stone at this point.  No papers have been signed and no money has changed hands!!  It will likely happen, but really hasn't happened yet!! The whole deal, when it happens, will be bad for all the drivers, race teams and fans in the Pittsburgh area.  They will no longer have a race track in their area and will have to drive an hour or much more to race or to watch a race. They will have to head out to Lernerville, Mercer, Sharon, Dog Hollow, Marion Center or Roaring Knob to enjoy the sport they love!!!    I feel for all of you!!!

GOOD RACING!!!!

Walt

Maybe time for somone to open Thundervalley or Latrobe back up!  When PPms first opened in 1979...they basically took the Latrobe cars!  And Latrobe closed after 1981 season.  Latrobe basically came back to life in 2001 when Challenger was going specials only,  and did well for several years after Challenger gave up regular shows!  If PPMS does close...one of these tracks could do well.  And probably the best shot is Latrobe

I don't know that anyone is outright lying, but at least one party isn't saying everything that they know, probably all parties. The PG could very well be stirring up public opinion in favor of a development company, and the Mikeys aren't giving any details.

Time will tell, but if you want to see any racing at PPMS I'd bet you better do it soon.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

...and keep in mind that once the local gov't decides that the track is standing in the way of progress it's over.  The Mileys will be presented with the option of selling to the highest bidder or getting $1 as "fair market value," with imminent domain imposed.

The posts in this thread caused me to google map the track and look at surrounding land.  I see a bar by the RT 22 I never noticed going to the track and it looks like it might be a fun place to check out.

Who's been there is the food good the prices on the menu look reasonable.  How's the putt putt course and is the place well maintained worth going to with family or maybe a rough country dump and not a family type place?

The only time Latrobe was a success was when Paul Schmucker owned it. Once Teslovich bought the place, it went on a down hill slide that it never recovered. Unless one buys it from Teslovich, it isn't worth the headache.

Been there many times, it's a great place. Awesome food and cheap prices. Most everybody that goes to PPMS goes there. It's very family friendly.

You are an idiot. Every year you spout this bullshit. The solution is never replacing one struggling track with another track that won't be successful.

What was wrong with that question? I've been in some rough country dumps,in my travels. Mostly, north of 80 and south of 70.

Very shitty for me and my son come next year. I hope the racers and the jack offs who say boycott the place realize that alot of people spent alot time time there with family and friends. I still remember my first race i attended there probably 89 90. With my dad my aunt my cousin and my uncle. I still remember my aunts passion for racin john mason when he was still in his prime. I remember the friends ive made there over the years. I remember all of the wins the cars ive worked on over the years possessed. Lot of memories gone by the wayside that all flood back. Now i have to find somewhere else or something else to do with my son. But time marches on i guess. Farewell rip

Plenty of tracks that run Saturday nights  with in an hour or so of this place that are there to put on a show and not just take your money.  Take your son their and create new memories.  It would be cheaper..  Sharon is $10  They should add SLM and let mercer have the 358 mods and both tracks would have awesome cars counts.

Why do you bother to post????  Don't you get it yet...YOU don't matter......You are a ...O...  No-body cares what you think!  Your not a driver...your not a promotor.... Your not a car owner..... Your not a track owner!  not even a mud cleaner!  Just an Idiot that thinks he matters!  You Don't!  You are nothing but a bleacher creature! Go back to watching your cartoons on Saturday morning till you can add something intelligent to the conversation. I forgot more about his sport than you will ever have the opertunity to try to learn!  When you can show me 40 years involvement in this sport at any level...come back and talk to me!
