Looks like they didn't waste anytime to start on the track.

Their plan has been to add new clay this week for quite some time. They might as well do it now while the weather is nice.

Strip Mine Mud : CLAY

the track has been awesome since they started doing that around 2004 or so  when it started getting above the original guardrails so I guess next season it will be awesome again!

I've been as harsh a critic of PPMS and the Mileys as anybody, but this past weekend I decided to get over it an enjoy some racing at PPMS and you know what? I was pleasantly surprised. Good things are starting to happen out there. People can change and they deserve the benefit of the doubt, in my opinion.

The proof is in the pudding. It's time for people to get over whatever keeps them away from PPMS and give the place another chance. Josh Richards and Scott Bloomquist, two of the best drivers, and respective Chamions in their Series' stated "this is my favorite track, there's no other place like it!" (Richards) and "this place and Knoxville are the two best tracks in the country!" (Bloomquist). Kudos to the Miley's for a great weekend and for trying to continue to make the place better, and to the Underwoods for a great racing surface all year, and to everyone out there spreading clay around.

J20000 in all fairness Ive heard these 2 guys say "this is my favorite track" just about at any track these guys do well at or win. Don't be feeding us the kool aid about ppms being their favorite place. Yea they may like it because they win a lot there, but come on man. If you listen to dirtondirt or go to these big races you will hear it a lot.

Actually you don't hear that kind of emotion out of bloomquist all that much. And last years pittsburgher proved that when he went crazy in victory lane. Yes maybe they say it at an eldora or a Knoxville, or their local track, but not often. If you don't want to drink the look aid then don't, but I'll take a whole glass of it if it comes with the type of racing that has been at Pittsburgh.

Do they still penalize drivers for stopping to avoid a wreck?  The surface and the stopping to avoid a stopped car penalty are the reasons I stopped going.  They're actually taking care of the surface now.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

That's actually not true. They may say that the track was good, but you rarely hear anybody call a track their favorite. Bloomer has said Eldora, Knoxville, and PPMS are his favorite tracks during other interviews away from the track. And Josh has been saying PPMS is his favorite since he was a rookie. When the track is right, which has been a lot of the time lately, there isn't another track in the country with more grooves.

I've definitely heard Richards say Lernerville is his favorite track, too. It makes sense, though. They're the closest things he has to home tracks.

I don't know when you stopped going to PPMS, but they've been "taking care" of the track surface for quite some time out there.  You can certainly choose to spend your money wherever you wish, but you seem to be a pretty good race fan, and you're just denying yourself some mighty good racing by not going.  On another positive note, looks like great weather for The Stampede this weekend.
