Wow dirtstudent, I'm assuming you live in the Eastern Pa, Western Ohio or northern WV areas? If so what industries are you involved with that you have been seeing any improvement? The only things that I have seen first hand that seem to be trending upward are Government funded construction projects and Social Welfare programs. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of businesses I know of first hand that have shut their doors in the last 4 years. On the other hand I would have a difficult time listing the new businesses that have started up in that same time frame. I know that the company I worked for the last 11 years shut down Dec. 31. I just started a new job 3 weeks ago with a $3 an hour pay cut and no company truck. Good luck to anybody in my area looking for a decent paying job for a hard days work. But seriously I have seen the posts on social media about the improved economy and new jobs and all of the people I have came across all want to know where these jobs and improved economy are so please share it with us.

In 2005 I switched jobs to better myself and I had a lot of different choices. In those days you could walk out of one job and into another just as good the same day. From 2005-2008 I had by far the highest grossing years of my life. Sometime in 2008 that drastically changed, since that year the closest I have personally come to that yearly income was $18,000 a year less. That was at the same job at the same pay wage. Prior to that we got yearly raises that where typically in the $.50 to $1.00 range, after 2008 we got none.

I had absolutely no problems with my Healthcare until after the new insurance Law passed. Our weekly rates were low and the deductibles and co-pays were low or non existent. After the new law our rates increased twice and the co-pays doubled. Let me say that the insurance rates at my new job are quite a bit higher, that's going to leave me even less of my lower paychecks. I have talked to many people that have seen drastically higher insurance rates since the new law took effect almost to a crippling point. I have yet to come across a single person who has benefited from the change so if any one on here has please share it!

Personally I am hoping for a change back to the point that a person can work hard and provide a decent living for himself. I would also like to have a little freedom of choice and not make everything in my life dictated by the government. As the saying goes, "The problem with Communism is that eventually out run out of other people money to spend."

I am sorry to post this off topic and I am only sharing my experience and those of people I have come into contact with here to find out what WE have been doing wrong while others are appearantely prospering? And let me apologize if you are living off Social Welfare programs as I don't mean to offend anybody.

And back to topic I hope the best for Thunder Mountain, I raced there the first half season they opened and enjoyed it, and to Bo who put himself on the line to attempt promoting a race track.

Washington, in it's current direction has killed small business. Yes, off topic, so stop reading it if it disturbs you. I have been in business 30 yrs. In the last 8, due to yearly changing tax laws, as Drt said the company's gross/net numbers continued to decline because of the costs that government shoved down are throat. Washington cannot get a qualified candidate for the office of president, that's why we have what we have today. She is as crooked as they come, and he at times says things you can only ask yourself, REALLY. Good luck with anyone's choice today, it is not a easy choice.

OK so what does this have to do with racing. Many a small business owner like myself could help a guy with 10 to 20 grand in sponsorship. That's the $$$ missing from local racing. You used to  have sponsors like that on many teams, it's what kept guys racing from week to week. The small business owner of today is struggling. Start up companies have to get investors. I no guys that may be the motor owner, other guys buy the chassis. Again, these guys, because of there gross/net numbers declining have pulled out of racing.

So if you think government has not had a hand in the decline of today's racing. Think again.

So how did this become a political post? Dirtstudent, not sure how you related Marion Center and Dog Hollow to this topic and not even mention Hummingbird when it's literally 20min down the road from thunder mountain. Regardless don't make this a political thing. Bo backed out just like Jeff Taylor plain and simple. These two realized it's more work and less money than they were expecting. Anyone now a days that wants to open a track or take one over better have a lot of cash and a large crew supporting them. MCs has lasted forever it seems. Family run. Hummingbird, same thing. I hate seeing tracks close down but in all honesty it's a product of shit like this site. People bitch and moan that the track sucks, the promoters are biased or don't know now what they're doing and then everyone cries when it's gone. Instead of adding fuel to the fire offer to help these local tracks help them stay around longer. Show them you appreciate what they do or try to do for you and the fans.
