Wonder if Mansfield will get support from the locals now that it is back to dirt? This new fella is putting $15K  JUST for 1st place money this coming week. 3 Classes paying $5k to win in March is impressive. Hope you see ya there.

Good payout. I do see they are running 3 of these shows, a lucas race and all star sprints. Wish them well. Never been there but many have said it's a fast racey place.

We got there at the appointed time of 1PM, the nice parking lot had about 2 dozen cars in it.  As luck would have it we parked near a nice fella and we struck up a conversation. He just happened to be the fella that signed a check to be a "partner" in this promotion. No potra potty, and the gate guard refused to allow those waiting to use the restroom some 60 feet away.   The under staffed ticket office started selling general admission tickets after 3PM, 5 guys were there to make sure nobody could sneak through.....  Heck of a way to promote harmonious relations!
Winged sprint cars cars were shoved off for hot laps on the under-prepared track first, the large crowd was soon entertained with an extended demonstration of heavy equipment operation scattered with a water truck and push trucks  participating in turning left.
Heat races for the 3 classes went off with no problems. For whatever reason the unneeded intermission started, and never ended, as we were leaving the loud speaker was calling drivers to their cars. It looked like rain was coming, we had enough, we were going.
A quick stop at the filthy rest room on the way to the exit, sealed the attitude this new track management has for the race fans. The very fans that plunked down $25 for a general admission ticket.
Raindrops hit our windshield about 5 miles north on S.R. 13. I don't know if they got rain or not at the track; but a lot of race fans got hosed regardless.

It's amazing how the same event is viewed totally different by a different set of eyes. I made the trip over from western Pa. for Attica/Mansfield so I arrived even earlier than you but parked down by the pond so I could use the truck door restroom till race time. Then moved into the regular parking lot. The people at the gate were very courtious and welcoming people into the race, with I guy handing out coupons for 5 bucks off your next visit to the track, works for me. Yes the track was under prepared & toooo much grader time, very un needed intermission, but saity crews need a piss break to. They never had a car turn a lap on this track. You forgot to mention they scrapped the planned group TT and the B mains to try and speed up the show. I'll bet at the next race you'll not see a lot of the issues they had last night. I wish a facility like this was in western Pa. it is a gift for dirt track fans. You should have stayed for the winged feature Jac had em covered till he lost a tire and Caleb came from 10th or 12th I believe for the win. I wanted to see the non wing feature but did not want to sit through the late models as I am a sprint car fan. The ride home was little over 3 hours with 2 breaks, Not real soon but i'll be back. It was certainly a night of ups and downs. The wingless feature was awesome, glad I stayed for the whole thing.

They'll get the surface figured out. They just need to focus on timelines.

Why is that in a time where dirt tracks are closing left and right fans like you still go racetracks looking for a reason to be pissed off and never go back?  First of all, if you expected ideal track conditions after they just finished taking the asphalt off 7 weeks ago you're a moron and know nothing about dirt racing.  90% of the people who attended last night expected at least one break for track rework.  And after they reworked the track it was better.  The racing in both sprint classes was really good, and that's hard for me to say that because I hate sprints.  There just weren't enough good supers to put on a good show and the track was a but too rough for them.  But again, it's only been 7 weeks.  And this was the Cody's first race as the track owner.  On a positive note, in the very short amount of time he's owned the place he had all of the lights working, the safety lights working, the PA system working (somewhat), the track equipment working, the scoring system working, and even though the situation wasn't ideal, enough restrooms and concessions working to get through the night.  You don't think they'll fix the scoreboard, track conditions, ticketing issues, PA system issues, and all of the other minor issues in the weeks ahead?  Give me a break.  It's easy to run a racetrack while you're sitting on your ass in front of your computer.  I've been critical of racetracks myself, but only when there is an obvious lack of effort.  The staff at Mansfield absolutely worked their butts off last night for the thousands of people that were there, which was obviously a MUCH bigger crowd than they expected.  And the staff that I spoke to couldn't have been nicer and I saw track staff courteously helping people throughout the night.  The facility is like a smaller version of Charlotte, it will be a premier racing facility in no time.

By the way, I stayed for the 410 and Super features and got out of there at 11:30, which isn't bad at all considering.  And I still had a 2.5 hour drive home.  If you left before the features because your bed time is 10:00 then maybe racing isn't the hobby for you.

From a common sense standpoint, Cody has way too much money invested into this project to have it fail. One day that track will be one of the tops in the country. Yesterday was not that day. But I really believe it will be a great track.

I really hope so.  It sounds like they are working hard, and that should pay off.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

I certainly don't think he's a stupid person like Retort says he is. In fact I think he's accomplished a lot in the short time he's owned the place. Just a couple months ago it was a failed asphalt track with no hope. Last night it was a jam packed dirt track with lots of optimism. All accomplished in a couple of months.
