THE HOMAK PENN OHIO PRO STOCK CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES RETURNS TO THUNDER MOUNTAIN AND FINDS SERIES MEMBER, FUZZY FIELDS IN VICTORY LANE!

For Immediate Release

June 19, 2017 (Sandy Lake, PA) The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series returned to Thunder Mountain on Friday, June 16th, to finish what they started back on May 19th.  With three laps complete, 21 of the 30 drivers returned to battle for 22 more laps hoping to capture the $1,500 pay day.  In the end Brockway driver, Fuzzy Fields parked his #28 VSI Racing machine in victory lane holding the big Homak Penn Ohio check.

Rusty Martz, who captured the Ed Laboon Memorial win at PPMS, was looking to make it two-in-a-row as he led the field to the green flag in a Delaware style start.  Much like the original start on May 19th, it took a few cautions and unfortunate crashes to get consecutive, green flag racing underway.  It was lap six when drivers were able to settle in, caution-free, allowing Fields to pressure Martz for the lead.  Fields made the pass on lap 8 pulling to a comfortable lead over Martz.

Brent Johnson, who suffered mechanical issues on May 19th, restarted in the 19th position and found himself in third on lap 7.  A caution flag on lap 12 would bunch the field up and determine if Johnson had the car to take the lead from Fields.  Johnson was able to take second from Martz on lap 13 only to find himself in the same situation as May 19th stopping on the track on lap 15 experiencing mechanical woes, exiting to the pits.

Fields would sit in the top spot followed by Martz, Bill Hurrelbrink, Bobby Whitling and Leigh Wheeler.  After one more caution on the restart, the field would bunch back up and Fields was able to secure the top spot with continuous green flag racing from lap 16 to lap 25.  Martz held onto second followed by Hurrelbrink for third, Rusty Moore in fourth, and substitute driver Paul Cott in the Brian Rhed machine rounding out the top five.  Charging from the 22nd spot, Jeff Broniszewski finished in sixth, with Randy Wyant in seventh, Leigh Wheeler in eighth, Jackson Humanic in ninth, and Gary Luzier in tenth.

Fields walked away with the $1,500 and a Hoosier tire from Precise Racing Products.  Hurrelbrink was awarded the American Racer Tire from Lias Tire.  The Hard Charger award presented by Shaffer’s Auto and Exhaust went to Jeff Broniszewski.

The next Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series event will be on Friday, July 14th at Raceway 7 and Sunday, July 16th at Eriez Speedway.   For more information on the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series contact Series Director, Shaun Hooks, at 724-730-1623, visit the website at www.pennohioprostock.com, or email info@pennohioprostocks.com.  Like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pennohioprostocks.
