By race time stands about full and the sprint race was about as good as any I've seen this season. Track was dusty early on but totally great by feature time.
ANYONE who skipped that race at Tri City for any reason, screwed up. Looked like the old days especially with 24 Big Bodied Modifieds on the track. Except for just having 5 or 6 305's show up ain't got no complaints. UP FRONT my first thoughts when the crowd early on was light were that the high $20 buck admission was hurting attendance. But by feature time the crowd was like old times, the racing was great and that's coming from a I hate the crate this and that fan. I don't hate to say it because the crate and mod show was great and "beyond my expectations" as is commonly used as a term now a days.
If you weren't there, YOU MISSED A GREAT SHOW!

Agree, it was a good show. The 305 thing is not a Tri City issue, but a 305 issue. I don't think the average field for them locally is much more than 6 or 8. I think they will have a difficult time getting any tracks to schedule races for them next year.

As I wrote in my column last night "The 305 Sprint class may not be dead, but is on life support." It was a growing class until they ended up with different rules between the Mercer cars and the Racesaver cars. And what will happen next year with the proposed RUSH crate engine non-wing Sprint car class?? If it succeeds like the RUSH Modifieds, the 305s will be dead for sure!! Darin Gallagher had his 305 at Tri-City last night but ran with the 410s as his car is not legal for the Racesaver race...CRAZY!! Another problem is that a number of drivers have moved up to the 410s, while new drivers have not come in to replace them.
GOOD RACING TO ALL!!

Remember when Tri City went with the Ohio Sprint Bandit rules while 25 Hickory rule cars waited in the wings? How did that work out? Remember the Schwanke engine cars at Sharon? Remember when Mercer was going to run the Schwankes and Racesavers for one year and then become a Racesaver track? There are more Racesaver engines in the United States than there are 410's. Bloomington, Indiana has Racesavers at their track. Guess what, they're winged. Why in a basically non wing state are the 305's at Bloomington winged? Maybe because putting novice drivers in a non wing sprint car is a bad idea. And while you're at it, why not put a one, two, three or four tire rule for a beginning low buck division. Remember when a current local announcer stated that the 410's were dead because of the Schwankes? How did that work out?

usually when tri city has the rush tour, eriez does not run crates. they ran last sunday which took some cars away that would have been at tri city.

there are some reasons too......saw a drivers knuckles from rocks......all tore up.....plus last four times we have been there, it was bottom feeder city. most guys would rather go to eriez. glad it was better.........and rush sprints will thrive........you can piss up a tree all you want........standard rules bring racecars...

The rocks are a serious issue! Matus had one go thru his front wing little bit bigger then a golfball
They were a problem in 1973 too.
