I've talked to a few friends of mine who also raced at Motordrome as asphalt and Ben Miley about the current state of the track. Of course this is just a dream unless I hit the lottery or find other people who would be serious about it, but what are your thoughts about bringing Motordrome back to life when PPMS closes? I imagine you would have Crate lates and Stocks looking for new homes. Maybe throw in open 4's and monthly super late or sprint specials and keep dirt racing alive in south western PA? Think it would work? Current price is $1.2M with 48 acres of land.

I couldn't see the neighbors being happy about that at all, and unfortunately, thats a very real concern with race tracks these days.

Yeah obviously you'd have to get the township approval but it's not like they couldn't use the taxes and business it would bring right?

I totally agree, but nimbys are the biggest problem racing faces.

Some of the absolute best dirt track racing I ever seen was at Motordrome 70!! From the regular shows to the mid-week Summer Sizzlers.

I have long lost the papers with all the results for the Summer Sizzlers but they were always loaded with many of the best dirt late model drivers from around the USA.

Maybe Walt can dig up some results from those races. I know my favorite driver "Mr Invitational" Bob Wearing Sr. won his share of them in the Harpo Martino #15.

I'd rather see you save PPMS.... lol,

I also remember Motordrome in the dirt days, was there the night Banal had the bad wreck on the back straight..but its quite a haul for most of the PPMS regulars.

I made it home from 250 in 45 minutes one night, but taking our cars down there would be as Rusty Wallace said about going to Bristol "like trying to fly a fighter plane in a gymnasium"..

It's a shame they refused to sell it to Ed ferree. He gave Miley's what they wanted but he was still turned down.

I was there that night. Mad Mark hit a light pole in the infield WFO. If I remember correctly he ended up with a shattered leg.

Motordrome was in my opinion one of the best dirt tracks in western pa. period. I will go as far to say better than PPMS. Western Pa. had some of the best 1/2 mile tracks anywhere. J-Town, watching the sprint cars get around that place, wow. Schmucker's, just flat out hi speed shit. Motordrome, sitting on the hill, yea bring it back. Sunday nights no less and the place was always full of fans and race cars. I went there 1 time after they paved it. It just wasn't for me. It's a shame Vince but after the 1.2 asking price it would take probably another 1.2 to get it back to dirt and repairs needed. As you said maybe if I hit the lottery, yea me too.

id doubt mileys would refuse a full price offer on the property by ferree, chances are re-opening as a dirt track would be objected to by any new neighbors to the property..chances are the use would be grandfathered... but the dust issues would probably be a major issue to overcome

The only neighbors are a truck stop , a strip joint, and a corn field the last time I saw the place. Been a while though.

Thats what I was thinking too. There's nothing but that and farms out there and that hasn't really changed since 1989.

Noooo, racers drink beer and go to boobbey bars. Unheard of. Some tree hugger out there probably would not drive past the place cause there kid mite see a car in the parking lot. Motordrome is in what i think is a great location. I can say this I never wanted to be under those hi tension lines when a lighting storm came rolling past. Hearing those things humm used to give me the creeps. lol. But, most sunday's we were there.
