if i had infinite dollars the dream would be to build a strip club in the infield of a dirt track.  However, motordrome is the next best thing...

Or if you wanted to save almost a million, you could buy Clearfield's 5/8 asphalt track for $275,000 and turn it into dirt for specials.

We all wish someone would. As a specials only track, that place was awesome. But, that's been discussed a million times and unfortunately no one is dumb enough to do it yet.

Someone will have this answer. The Clearfield asphalt track. I was told that the dirt track was in a different location. True or ? Whats the story ?

There are 2 different tracks in clearfield. The big track started as 1/2 mile+ dirt track almost identical to ppms in size/configuration. It was later paved (80s or 90s). Early to mid 2000s they put dirt back on top of it but shortened it to run inside of 1 and 2 of the pavement. It ran that way until 2010ish when they scraped the dirt back off and made a few stubborn attempts to make the asphalt work again. Been idle since. It's last year open as a dirt track was extremely successful (by car counts and fans, I don't do their books) but the owners were asphalt guys and apparently thought they could make that work rather than make money.
A couple miles down the road is a tiny little bullring that's also gone through its share of owners/operators and is also sitting idle now.

The owners are still asphalt guys ... Confusing, Clearfield, lets say a mid state track with a asking price of 275,000. Easy to get to from all directions. Motordrome, in a area that is also easy to get to. It is not going to see high residential use or for that matter zoned use in general, It would cost way to much. The asking price is 1.2 million. The one thing about the Miley's, for PPMS and Motordrome, they want big bucks and are not going to dump either just to get rid of the burden.

The asking price is actually 990k, and you do realize that different areas have different real estate values, right?

FWIW- Ben Miley is the one who directly told me $1.2M but that's negotiable. Would love to be able to just buy the X acres of land for the track and not the entire 46 acre bundle.

Howard Hanna has it listed at 990k to buy, or 100k a year to lease.

If you look at the listing it says "sold". It's not the current listing.

Not that I'd ever have the money to lose, but for the money I'll take clearfield and 82 acres for 275k. Plenty of potential there. They got some REALLY good late models in their days of specials only. Maybe I'm just biased because I never missed a show there.

Bacon I agree. Totally different area, but as race fans we are just talking about the price of a racetrack. In today's world of racing, let's just say you hit the lottery for enough money that you could buy a track and have enough that your worries would be over. We're talking motordrome and Clearfield here. Number 1, you want to get the traveling series on your schedule as much as possible. 2, a weekly schedule would be a struggle for a variety of reasons. Going against lernerville on fridays, to many tracks on Saturday and not enough cars. Sundays may be a option. Your best bet today is a specials only deal 1 or 2 races a month, with rain dates. So, which track do you buy ? That 800K difference just became huge. I had no idea motordrome had that much land to go with the sale. In reality unless a person that has a true endless supply of cash it's probably never going to happen. But, you let me hit one of those rediculous lotteries and you never no. :)
