while sitting in the stands at thunder mountain tonight we over heard a conversation behind us that the 28n limited late was illegal to run at dog hollow but is legal at thunder mountain. dont these 2 tracks use the same rules?

What did they say made the 28n illegal to run at Dog Hollow? Didn't he just win there last Sunday?

Nate Smith in the #28N car has won the last two Semi-late races at Dog Hollow.....So I guess he is legal, well at least so far!!

What we're track conditions last night? Mylaps shows that Smith's semi late had faster lap time than the fastest late model, which is possible depending on track conditions.

It's a  well known, proven fact, that what is said in the stands is never biased! ......or inaccurate!

He was a half second faster than Doug Eck who won supers. They are definitely doing something right.I know one thing Smith brake checks the field on every restart. Gonna cause a big wreck. Flagman has to control that.

From what I saw they only had a total of like 46 cars in pits, don't know how a track can make it at that

I can't explain it. There are a lot of cars in the area that just aren't racing regularly. Check the points for the tracks in this area. You can count on one hand the guys that show up every week to race. Guys like eck and dorman are traveling every single week, and guys that live 10 minutes from the track show up once a month. Maybe it's money, maybe it's a combination of reasons, but if you go to race in this area you have no clue if you're going to race against 6 cars or 18 on any given night. I think the tracks are doing a great job, guys just seem to not have the desire to race. Especially when other tracks rain out constantly. Guys just sit at home rather than find a place to race.

Well I will say there are a lot of one track wonders out there,I know when hummingbird cancels you hardly see any of them go to Marion center for whatever reason.but yes you are right, the guys aren't racing much

RocketRide ; There were 52 cars in the pits. Not a lot but more than 46.

I can speak as to one driver that was not on the track. He has had his car torn down for the last few weeks. It's together now and should be back on the track next week.

I mean no disrespect but why would a chassis builder and owner/driver that has such superior equipment and ability want to run in a semi-late class when they could easily win in the supers? If I was a chassis builder I would want to show my stuff against the Longhorns and XR1s. The 28's lap times would easily win in the superlates.

reason #1 and the most obvious is the amount of better and more competition. pro one is gona corner the market on limited lates I guess. sure the engine pumped legal, big deal on cubic inch lol.

this is kinda like those psi team cars that run hummingbird and thunder mountain. who is the moron dropping money into those street stocks to win 200 bucks lol. man up, dig down in your purse and buy a late model. what are you guys proving in your class lol. you guys look like idiots when you don't win especially with that equipment

The 28 team definitely has something figured out. To say it's motor is just ridiculous. Even if the motor was illegal (which I doubt it is) do you really think it has more power than the 7-800hp supers that he made look slow? If it's chassis, then those same supers at the top that were a half second slower better be trading their longhorns and xr-1 on a pro 1. Guys will get better. There's always dominant cars in every form and level of racing. Guys get better and someone else will be a "cheater".

Well, they must be happy being a big fish in a little pond. Sort of like the Penn State Nittany Lions getting a charge out of beating the Punxy Chucks. It's just funny that being that dominant that they don't whoop up on the supers and win a lot more purse money.
What it will do is ruin a class that had a lot of potential.

Is a big fish in a small pond like a VSI funded car?

Why would you want to discourage a sponsor from dumping money into our sport? Like or hate vsi, or any of their teams/cars/drivers, we need MORE sponsors like that. They have their name on multiple cars, in multiple divisions, sponsor tracks and races. Why would you complain about that?

So this post is quickly turning ugly, as most do, and there are those who obviously don't like the 28 team. But from my perspective they did just move up from Street Stock to semi late, and are now being ridiculed because they should be running supers. Bottom line is they got there shit figured out right now and it's up to everyone else to step it up, that is of course as long as they are running legal and from what I hear they have been teched more than once. ^yes. I was going to add that and forgot to. It is their first year. I'm sure they had no idea they would be this successful right away. There are other fast cars that have all won multiple races as well, and some that are surely capable. Just keep digging for more speed. It's not like a dominant superlate driver moved down to spank on a bunch of novice late model drivers. That'd be a whole new topic. Having a brand new chassis kinda goes against what the class is about, but there's no rule for that, so no argument there either.
