The management of both the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series North East Region and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway have collectively decided to not
sanction the upcoming “Red Miley Memorial” at PPMS scheduled on August 26th.

“Both staffs talked about it and the decision was made that this event just didn’t need
sanctioning” ULTIMATE North East Region Director Rose Compton said. “We enjoyed being there
in July, and the teams, fans and speedway now see how ULTIMATE does things and as a series and
that’s all we wanted to do. Teams and fans now see that although ULTIMATE is a Regional Super
Late Model Series, it’s ran more like a National Tour. The teching, the format and the thicker purse
is something everyone now knows about and that was our only goal for 2017.”

Compton went on to say that the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series North East Region is
now concentrating on new innovative programs between the sanctioning body and tracks, and
schedules for the 2018 racing season and beyond.

“As tight as our schedules are for the rest of the year we are simply out of time,” Compton
said. “Our new “co op” advertising plan for our $5000-to-win and up events is going “off the charts”
of what we would ever expected, and we felt our time was better spent finalizing plans for 2018. I
have to make a trip to the corporate office so we can finalize everything for 2018. I can’t share
everything we are doing in 2018 for our track events, but it’s going to be something the racing
industry has never seen before.”

There is an excitement among the ULTIMATE Officials as the four Regions get ready for
2018. The ULTIMATE NE Region is the newest in the ULTIMATE family of Regions, and Compton
has been busy working with the Corporate Office in Carnesville, GA getting everything in place for
next season.

“Our corporate staff has been working their tails off all year on putting something together
for 2018,” Compton said. “They started in March of this year working on 2018 and when we have
our weekly staff meetings via Skype each week. There seems to be something new each meeting. We
do appreciate the teams coming out and supporting the July ULTIMATE event at PPMS and look
forward to working with them in 2018.”

The PRI Show in December is when you will start seeing a hint of what’s coming in 2018 and
be ready, racing is about to get better in all regions of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series.
Larger purses, and co op advertising for the speedways are only a small part of the plan.

So the ulms was supposed to sanction this back in April which the race got cancelled and they drop the sanctioning. Now the ultimate drops their sanctioning. Seems fishy with all these sanctions keep dropping from PMS. What's the deal?

Maybe because they don't bring enough cars to justify the sanction fee. Not many people want to hand over 25 bucks to watch guys like Landers or Hodgkiss race.

Most series these days are a joke.  They have a few drivers follow them, and average car counts.  Tracks are better off saving the sanction fee and entry fees and putting in their pocket or back into the purse.    Ultimate is infamous for low car counts in all there regions.....sometimes that get good counts, but normally less than full fields.

There were no points in these races. Did anyone expect cars from Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina to come to Pgh for a 3k no points race?? If Alex hadn't of been slammed by a slower car and given a flat it may have been a good race. I don't know why only 17 cars showed up, but rumors about track closing may keep people away. For whatever reason, look at the cars that wern't there. Juice, Flinner, Peger, Norris,Blair, Hess.

Pegher has been in the RJ1 a lot lately I think the last time he was in his Super was at the firecracker.

The Geisler car has been down with a blown engine, but it seems to be taking them a long time to get back running.

GOOD RACING!!!

If they would buy a decent motor and not some junk this would not have happened most likely. I'm sure number 1 Cochran is really thrilled about missing half the season of advertising at the track on the car.

You must like pissing your money away because watching him is about as exciting as watching paint dry. If running your mouth won races, he would be better then Bloomquist. They should let him run his big bad pierce car in the Jook race, I bet he wouldnt even crack the top 15 thats how bad little johnny boy sucks.

It was a Rousch-Yates worked on by Rhodes that blew at the Firecracker. It's back together waiting for the rain to stop.

Yeah that is pretty pathetic that he is going to win the championship at PMS. I have $100 if PMS will let him run his late model in the crate race tomorrow that he does not even finish in the top 20 cars. I would bet even most of the pure stocks would still have qualified better than he would have.

Yes I am sure he will be proud, had some stiff competition this year let me tell ya! Hodgkiss is a joke, nobody takes anything he says seriously. I agree with you I would match your 100 to let him run tomorrow so we could all laugh at the joke getting it handed to him by the crate cars. I know someone who got a deck built by him, said all he does is stand around with his hands in his pockets while everyone else does all the work!

He's on top of the points because he deserves to be on top!  Racing for points is about where you finish, finishing and attendance.  He did what needed to be done so far this year and where he is in the points because he put the effort in.  Congratulations to him for being in front going down the home stretch.  If he wins the Super Late Model points and is the Super Late Model PPMS champion at the end of the year, it's about his efforts and it will be his name on the record book.  That's the way it works.

Hodgkiss is his own worst enemy the way he runs his mouth about others on social media.    If any other driver were in line for a track championship by just showing up and not being capable of winning, he would be slamming them. Remember all the comments about Hummingbird drivers?  Thing is most of them could outdrive him with their steel blocks......

I wonder if anyone ever won the LM points at Pittsburgh by never winning a heat or even finishing top 5 in a feature of 7 cars. Poor Jon won't even get his awards ceremony if the track closes lol.

Hodgkiss is basically like the Colton flinner of the Lucas Oil tour. All he has to do is show up and he is guaranteed to win the championship just like Colton was guaranteed a provisional at every event. Both of them have no business in each of their respective endeavors.
