Having monitored this site for years, I have never been able to understand why people start rumors on this site. If you think you heard a "rumor", call the track. Duh, if you can find racestud, you can find the web/phone number for the track. Why get on here and start shit???

I could see a place like Sharon dropping big blocks in favor of supers or crates but I don't see lernerville making any changes. Lernerville isn't hurting for front gate attendance as is and late models is a decent part of that even if they only have 12 cars

If they drop the late models You Can Count me and five of my friends who attend pretty much every regular fab4 race and super late model race out. Late models is the only reason why we attend the track because of its Rich history and tradition.

Late Modles are out pricing them out of racing!!  Racing is good, but the cost has gotten out of line!!

GOOD RACING!!!

No Walt, it's not just the Late Models. It's the sprints and modifieds and the street stocks and every form of racing. There is no "spec" aspect of racing.

High costs have been a problem for years, but I think the Late Models have pushed it to the limit in that last few years!!

SLM chassis alone have gotten totally out of control. You have to include all the manufactures that have made the costs of those bolt on items expensive. Let's not even talk about motor costs.

It's the same issue that hurts every form of racing. Technology is a double edged sword. When you need a shock expert, an engineer, aero experts, and the chassis guy is more important than the driver, cost is going to go up. It's fascinating to try to keep up with, but it's leaving a lot of guys behind. The big shows are not realistic for the locals to attempt anymore, so they are getting smaller fields of cars. Plus, it only takes one or two teams that do their homework and spend some money (and sometimes have an inside connection to good knowledge) to really put a beating on other local guys who may just be missing a small piece of the puzzle. You can't punish guys for working hard and earning it, but more guys are getting frustrated and giving up. Tough to find a good solution.

which is where a series like the Lucas Late Models or WoO Sprints come in...now we all got money, whats up..?

lol..but on a local level the rules are supposed to keep a handle on things.

we run the Sportsman,Pro Stock class..it started as stock Malibu's,Monte Carlo's..etc.. and slowly morphed over the years into the monsters we have now.

it wasn't the racers fault, they just wanted to have a chance out there..the Promoters are the ones who let it get out of hand.

I've been saying this all year recently I wrote about it here maybe Lernerville saw it and decided that this is what the people want drop the late models and concentrate on getting more modifieds this should be no surprise I'm glad Lernerville is taking my advice most people that posted agreed with me too now if they can pay modifieds more maybe they'll get more of the good drivers that need more money to keep up they can get it now with increased payouts in the modifieds and hopefully it will work well for the sprints too and Lernerville will have the best modifieds and sprints coming and all the fans will be happy and by Firecracker 100 time people will be like oh yeah they used to have those taxis here every week glad to see them get a special and then those fans will get to enjoy late models too.

That's what racers say when they can't win then they spend more and can't win then there's no more excuses so they must not have as much money as the winners spend loser talk is what most people call it.

Winning a race isn't all about money no matter what you race.  Racers take their highs where ever they can, push aside the lows and move on.

The high end of the amount of money you spend, needed or not, relates to what you race and nothing else.  I was told by someone I have no reason to doubt they spent their first year racing $15,000 on engines and traveled around good part of the country with what some would consider the top of the dirt oval food chain working out of the same team.  One could only guess how much was spent traveling.  That was kart racing with a built lawn mower engine power plant.  I don't know how they did points wise nationally but suspect because the points game pointed out on here in a current thread does include attendance, they did ok.  Later local dirt racing from what I saw they did not fair so well, even with paid for very good support.  Money helps but it's not always about money and how high you wish to make the table stakes depends on how high a roller you are and how much your willing to spend.

You read correctly, $15,000 the first year on lawn mower engines racing gokarts.

But this is threads first post was not about the cost of racing.  I like watching Late Models at Lernerville and if they dropped them if would make it easier for me to go elsewhere on Fridays.  I couldn't the $10 ticket cost anywhere but not being able to experience a normal full show at Lernerville would make it easier for me to head out to Attica or even Raceway 7, more often.
