Winning a race isn't all about money no matter what you race. Racers take their highs where ever they can, push aside the lows and move on.
The high end of the amount of money you spend, needed or not, relates to what you race and nothing else. I was told by someone I have no reason to doubt they spent their first year racing $15,000 on engines and traveled around good part of the country with what some would consider the top of the dirt oval food chain working out of the same team. One could only guess how much was spent traveling. That was kart racing with a built lawn mower engine power plant. I don't know how they did points wise nationally but suspect because the points game pointed out on here in a current thread does include attendance, they did ok. Later local dirt racing from what I saw they did not fair so well, even with paid for very good support. Money helps but it's not always about money and how high you wish to make the table stakes depends on how high a roller you are and how much your willing to spend.
You read correctly, $15,000 the first year on lawn mower engines racing gokarts.
But this is threads first post was not about the cost of racing. I like watching Late Models at Lernerville and if they dropped them if would make it easier for me to go elsewhere on Fridays. I couldn't the $10 ticket cost anywhere but not being able to experience a normal full show at Lernerville would make it easier for me to head out to Attica or even Raceway 7, more often.
Clinton County puts on a pretty darn good show with limited lates on Fridays with 3 or 4 super late shows mixed in throughout the year.....But if you live closer to the Pittsburgh area you might not wanna drive to there?...I'm 2 hrs. south of Clinton with mainly all 4 lane roads going up....
