Interesting. I'll be out of town that weekend, or I would do what I can to go. I hope it is well attended.
My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Saturday July 14th, the Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks are at Stateline Speedway for 1,000 to win.
Being Kings Royal weekend, will scatter the field of Sprints. You may get a good count because of tracks closed or not running the sprints, but I'm guessing the heavy hitters will be at Eldora.
On Tap July 12: Jokers Wild ($10,000-to-win)
On Tap July 13: Knight Before the Kings Royal ($12,000-to-win)
On Tap July 14: Kings Royal ($50,000-to-win)

Theres plenty of other places to race, but people also love Mercer. I know its the place I grew up and hate to see the state its in currently. Nobody wants Altman to succeed at this point but Eric and the other people involved are good people with great intentions and I hope this is a successful venture for their sake.Doesn't anybody else find it funny that everybody wants to run back and race at Mercer now. The owner screwed all you guys who raced there why not leasing the track out the somebody else and putting it up for sale thus leaving you know where to race. Now you all want to go back and give this guy your money.

I would love to have a modified race there this year, but you also have to understand with this being a one off deal that it makes more financial sense to have the micros instead. You can pay them a 3k total purse and still draw 30 cars. The Modifieds would be closer to 9k and 30 cars would be about the best you could hope for.Hopefully they promote the hell out of this and not just on social media cause not everyone is on social media, they need to print up flyers and take them to the other tracks and put them on the car windshields hang them up in gas stations the papers.they should of had the 358 and bigblocks together instead of micros.

I wouldnt expect any local cars to head to Eldora and my guess would be they hope to draw some of the FAST cars that choose not to go to Eldora too. Whether they will or not is another question but the date makes a lot of sense.Saturday July 14th, the Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks are at Stateline Speedway for 1,000 to win.

I never said anything about the locals going to Eldora or questioned the date for the sprints. I only pointed of the fact that it's Kings Royal weekend and expect the heavy hitters to be there. I even stated they should get a good car count at Mercer.
I did question the date for the Stocks. The Penn-Ohio Series having a race on the 14th at Stateline, will decrease the car count at Mercer.

Couldn’t agree more. I just don’t get it. It’s like finding out your wife is with someone else, doesn’t tell you what’s going on until the last minute, then calls you and asks you to take her out to dinner and you gladly pay. They’re also putting the screws to the PENN Ohio series again.
Why not just call it the Summer cash grab to pay the utilities Nationals?

2) Matt has been open that PPMS is for sale for the right price. The fact that he continues to keep it a race track (30 years now) if and until that happens is completely different than Mercer’s current dilemma.
3) this is now multiple times they’ve shyt on the PENN Ohio series and the track running a big race for Stocks AFTER the event has been scheduled and advertised. PPMS, RW7, Thunder Mountain have all agreed to not race the weekend of Sharon’s big show. Then you have Mercer trying to steel cars from Stateline. Shame on them (again).

Ok youre right, everyone should just want their local track to close forever instead of enjoying it when they can. Im not commenting on the penn Ohio stuff because I couldnt honestly give less of a shit about the stock cars. Not my hill to die on because I dont care where those guys race, and neither will anyone else at Mercer that weekend except whatever stock car families show up.1) do you really think Bill isnt going to have some financial benefit in this? Cmon.

Also, how is it screwing atateline and the Penn Ohio series? Anyone thats going to Mercer wasnt going to go to Stateline anyways. The tracks are 2 hours apart. Thats like saying the sprints being there is screwing the world of outlaws and the Kings Royal by running that weekend. The two arent related

The amusing thing is look at what happened to the big block race at tri-city, the sanction was dropped and the race wasn't well supported. Gotta figure that the same thing will happen here because P-O takes care of their drivers.
As for the sprint portion, good deal. No locals are going to eldora. They have a hard enough time making the show at Lernerville. They'll get to run for a good payday instead of sitting on the couch watching racemonitor.

Youre kind of on my point, I doubt theyre expecting 40 stock cars. If they get 12 local cars that werent going to Stateline anyways, who cares in the end?TBH I don't see where Racer said they shouldn't open. I agree that the fact that they're tacking stocks on when there is a pre-existing penn ohio race is a bit of a dick move when every one else has been working together. However, not every stock car in the land will be at every penn ohio race, especially that one at stateline, so now they have a chance to run if they hadn't planned on it. But it's the principal of scheduling after the fact when everyone was playing nice. But it's their only race so meh. It's really not THAT big of a deal.

Thats what you dont seem to be getting, the people who treated people terribly arent involved in this. Eric and crew are renting the track and running their own deal. They are sprint car people, they picked a weekend that would suit a sprint car race. I would bet money they didnt look into where the other divisions were running that weekend because they arent the reason for the show.I get the nostalgia part of it, Id be an idiot if I didnt acknowledge it. I just think its a ballsy move by Altman and if I were a stock driver I wouldnt be there after the way they treated them at the end (suspensions, dropping them weekly) and they are shytting on another race track (again) who is paying a $1000 to win show for those drivers. I dont want Mercer or any race track to close. I just want them to treat people who support the track and the general racing community better.
