HOMAK PENN OHIO PRO STOCK EVENT THIS SATURDAY, JULY 28TH AT SHARON SPEEDWAY PAYS $1,000 TO-WIN, $150 TO START
PLUS THE M & T ALLISON CONSTRUCTION CREW CHIEF RACE!
For Immediate Release
July 23, 2018 (Sandy Lake, PA) As a result of Mother Nature creating havoc last Friday night, racing action for the Homak Penn Ohio Series at Raceway 7 was put on hold. A make-up date is in the works for some time in August and will be announced when confirmed with track officials.
In the meantime, the Series will continue with the next scheduled event on Saturday, July 28th at Sharon Speedway paying $1,000 to-win, $150 to start. Sharon Speedway is located at 3241 Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., general admission at 5 p.m., with racing at 7 p.m.
Drivers will participate in a pill draw to determine heat race starting order. The main feature event will be a 20-lap race, paying $1,000 to-win, $150 to start with drivers transferring from heat races and B Mains. In addition to the main Homak Penn Ohio Series’ event, the series will have a pro stock crew chief race presented by Series’ sponsor M & T Allison Construction out of New Castle, PA.
To date the Series has completed four races in 2018 with each event producing a different winner including three-time Penn Ohio Point Champion, Chris Schneider; 2017 Penn Ohio Point Champion, Bobby Whitling; Steel Valley Pro Stock National Winner, Brent Johnson; and 2017 Penn Ohio Series Breakthrough Driver, Andrew Gordon. Can a Sharon regular like current point leader Chris McGuire or former point champions Paul Davis, Mike Clark, or Steve D’Apolito add their name to the winner list or will fans see the first repeat Homak Penn Ohio Series’ winner? Regardless of the outcome, the racing action at Sharon Speedway will certainly keep fans on the edge of their seats.
The Homak Penn Ohio Series will be charging a $25 registration fee for all drivers participating in the main event. Drivers will be eligible for a Hoosier tire donated by Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic/Precise Racing, an American Racer tire donated by Lias Tire, and a $50 hard charger award presented by R & R Enterprise & Garage. 2018 Homak Penn Ohio Series’ registered members will be eligible for additional contingency prizes donated by various Homak Penn Ohio sponsors including a case of racing oil donated by Les Frickshun, a Homak hand carry tool box, racing products donated by Precise Racing and Dirt Defender LLC, gift certificates donated by ARbodies, Genesis Shocks, Close Racing Products, Wedge Motorsports, Big Daddy’s Speed Center, ADMAX, and Aero Wheels.
The M & T Allison Construction crew chief race will have a $10 participation fee. Each participant will have an opportunity to switch places with the regular car driver for a chance “to show them how it’s done.” To be fair, participants cannot be a current race car driver in any division; if a former driver, the participant must have less than 5 races in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The race will happen at the end of the night’s program and will be something the fans will want to stick around to see.
Drivers can still become members of the 2018 Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series at a cost of $200.
