So Martin drove the 61 the last few years. This year Lee gets in it. Also Lee has his own 5L semi-late. Then Martin starts driving the 5L. Why did Martin leave the 61? Why did Lee stop driving the 5L and put Martin in it? Was there a rule at Thunder and Hummingbird that you couldn't race in both divisions on the same night?

At the tracks discussed to win a season championship do points go to the car or the driver?
edit: below are just some thoughts that came to mind after asking the question above.
It's the horse that wins a horse race with winnings going to the horse owner. The jockeys hired to ride the horse and commands pay for riding per his ability to bring the horse home a winner. Auto racing should be the same. Points and payout are paid by where the car finished no matter who is driving. A driver the same as a jockey should be able to ride in as many races as they are physically able to and get paid by the car owner for each. If the driver owns the car then they also get all the payout, minus what they give the driver
If there's 6 races a night it should be possible for the same driver to win all 6. Do you all(fans) go to watch the best car, best driver or the best combination of both? The only reason to make a rule limiting a driver to one class each race night is to kiss the butts of those paying through the back gate. ... and then track owners wonder why they don't get many through the front gate. Now tracks are also kissing the butt of pedlars who push the butts of their customers through the back gate. .... same result is more wondering why they don't get many(fans) through the front gate. It's the show fans go to see, take care of the show for fans and the front gate will take care of itself.
All money and points should go to the car. There should be no restriction other then age on who a car owner chooses to drive their car. Drivers points should be kept separately. I think drivers points should be tallied on how much money a driver earns with the cars they drive. If a tracks paying the same from 10th place on back then then all drivers from 10th on back would receive the same points. Drivers don't finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc., the cars their driving do. Fans will talk about "did you see that 5 car last night, wow" and/or "Joe's a great driver, he can drive anything". Cars have a finishing order, drivers either win or don't win, they either beat another racer or get beat.

Is there anything in the rules which prevents a semi late 'car' from racing with the supers? Wouldn't back marker payout in a not full super race be better then towards the front payout in simi late?
If your in a simi late and not going to win the points or top 5, why wouldn't you run with the supers when the supers don't have a full field?
Wouldn't it be better for the fans watching to fill the super late field with simi lates? Even if you ended up with the 3 or 4 fastest semi lates the only cars on the track for their feature? Heck they put the lappers to the back to get rid of them and let the fast stuff race it out, why not do the whole dang race that way without the slow stuff in the race?

Only thing thats a little ridiculous is if a super driver cant be there, he cant have a semi-late driver sub for a week because he cant drive both cars. Even if you cant drive both classes weekly, subbing for a week shouldnt be an issue.
it's a LOT ridiculous.

I remember at tri city in 04 or 05, Robbie Blair drove as a substitute for Josh Skarzenski in Jason Ore's emod while Josh went scuba diving somewhere and Gary Rankin subbed for rod George around thr same time. I think George won the title and Josh finished 4th or 5th in points but people were not happy that points went to "the car". I don't really see a problem with it looking back. I can see it both ways i guess.
Wow, it's been like that since at least the PRA days in W.PA. These are hobby tracks, guys are going to take time off, even if they are in the points race.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Then you have Lunger whining because pro mods couldn't run Elite series races and how it wasn't fair... Well there's a rush series for pro mods that economods can't run in so it looks fair to me. Not to mention it's not as if he doesn't have enough going on with the open emod, the pro mod, and the crate late... you can never keep the money train out of lower classes. If you can't beat em, move down and outspend them.

At least Andrew spent loads of money attempting to run late models before realizing that he wasn't going to be successful there. I would say he found a class he could spend boatloads of money on and be successful.
