Everyone was complaining about the race in Quebec its too far why isnt there any big races around here blah blah blah. Then they announce that they are having a huge race at Lernerville and now we are mad about that. Racers and race fans will literally complain about anything and everything.

It should be a stand-alone event, not added to a show that the poorly-prepped racing surface already can't handle.

All of these beacons of racing greatness have their own issues on a weekly basis. Fairbury had teams pull out of the pits before features last year due to track roughness. Knoxville car counts were way down, and several Late Model teams aren't fans because it doesn't slick up. Every track doesn't have the goal to have a wide open hammer down surface every night. Some in fact want it to slick up, a difference between slick and locked/rubbered down are great. Last years race wasn't good, but most years it has been quite good. As guy who goes to 30+ different tracks a year people complain at all of the them. Lernerville is far from the dump as you would like to make it seem to be.

So it's acceptable for tracks to blow dust before hot laps are over? That seems to be the norm at most here in western pa.

You're high. If you think that place is the best track in country you need to get out more. Show me anybody that has used the high side in turn 2 to pass there. It's virtually impossible.

Josh Richards, Brandon Sheppard, Chub Frank, Boom, Ron Davies, Scott Bloomquist, Russ King, and many more have all went high in 2 and passed cars.

Eriez is definitely one of the best tracks in West pa, and you can most definitely run the high side in turn 2 most nights. Not saying they are perfect every night, but has come a very long way from the old 1 lane days!

I think what people are saying is that they like the format to the firecracker with no support divisions. They pay their $34 a night or whatever it is knowing that they won't be held hostage while other divisions are running. You know what you're getting late models and only late models and get to leave at a reasonable time of night also.

Oh look another "hostage crisis" post.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

When you say "if you don't like Eriez then you don't like anywhere" it insinuates that Eriez sets the bar for every track in the country. Go to Tri-State Speedway sometime and watch Helfrich work on his racetrack EVERY DAY and take a look at his CLAY that doesn't even have a pebble in it, then tell me that the racing surfaces around here are acceptable.

GEARHEAD only accepts the best of the best.  He holds every meal to five-star standards, 3 meals a day.  He scoffs at cars with a pricetag below 7 figures, and only dates supermodels.  Best of the best.  If you're not on board, you're just a degenerate.

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

What does that have to do with lazy track prep? So you're saying tracks shouldn't strive to be the best? Tri-State isn't known as "The Class Track" for nothing, why shouldn't all tracks strive for greatness?

Benny k, that last post of yours was one of the better ones on here. ALL tracks have their issues, and to keep beating on Lernerville is just stupid.

And actually, if you talk to actual drivers, a good majority of top division racers, local or travelers, do prefer slick conditions. Obviously not rubber down, but a good wide slick surface is about optimum for good racing with todays cars.

As far as Eriez, I would agree 100 percent that it is some of the better racing in west PA. Theres been lots of passing every time ive been there, including turns 1 and 2.

It has to do with your unreasonable expectations and the illogical conclusions you draw.  If one track is perfect, why shouldn't they all be perfect?

If you own a car, why shouldn't it be the best?  If you eat, why shouldn't you eat only the most nutritious, best prepared food?  If you date women, why shouldn't you date only the most attractive ones?

You must live on prime property in 10,000 sq. ft. house.  You have a home, shouldn't it be the best?  To follow your line of thinking - if it's not, you're lazy, and nobody else should approve of it, respect it, or even find it acceptable.

Those are illogical comparisons. Your examples either cost money or are matters of opinion. Putting extra effort into track prep simply comes down to caring and knowing what you're doing, or asking the best for recommendations. I guarantee the majority of guys who prep tracks either never travel anywhere to see how they can improve or they are too proud to ask for help or take suggestions. That has nothing to do with spending money.
