Richards is gonna lobby for what's best for his business. I get it. But as a paying fan, they want a multi grooved race track that provides good racing, and that's what it was. Was it rough....Yes, but so be it. They are a good track crew and did their best under weather circumstances. Who cares how much equip Richards tears up!! And if Gearhead enjoyed the racing at lernerville, I'd say it's a big A++

I'm not a track prep expert, but if I understand it right, with as much water as we've been getting in W.PA and E.Ohio and the weather that was predicted for Thursday they have to chose between opening the track, letting it take the water and getting too much, which you can't overcome, or packing the track to seal it, so that the water runs off, and doesn't work in deep. You go racing, but with less than optimal conditions. Now, the travelling guys wouldn't know just how saturated everything has been in this area for the last year-and-a-half, but we should. So, getting a race in at all was a real feat.
BTW, I agree that the track has gone down hill, but WRG was and still is part of the problem. They did NOT improve the situation.
My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

It's the same track for everyone and the cream, soured or not, will still come to the top.

I'll bet that the same ones of you who complained about how horrible the track conditions were Friday would have had a bigger tantrum if they had cancelled instead, which was the alternative.

And all of the people that complained about Friday's track conditions, had nothing good to say about the Saturday night track, which produced some fantastic racing.

No complaints because they were not there, choosing to go elsewhere like Mercer, Wayne County, Sharon etc., to see fantastic racing..

track use to be great always going home half clean until who took care of it for the WoO continually added crap cheap dirt to it, turning it into the dust hole it is today
Same thing with Charlotte, too friggen cheap to haul decent red GA clay to the track.
You all ever been to Blairsville kart track? They have the greatest racing dirt/clay north of the Mason Dixon line. But NOOOOO cheap ass WoO wouldn't even think of using good race track dirt/clay which is known to be locally available. Tooooo costly maybe?

Student
Perhaps you should volunteer to haul said clay in for them.
And you're really gonna compare a go-cart track to a full size dirt track ???
Your meds need adjusted.

I was there Saturday after complaining Friday. They ironed out the surface and got it smooth and wide for Saturday. They that complain Lernerville a dust hole must not get out to other tracks much. Hagerstown you couldn't see turns 3 and 4 yesterday. I have been to over a dozen tracks so far this year and the dust at Lernerville is not as bad as a lot of other places I have been.
I wasn't referring to you, Benny, your posts are always informative and well-thought out. I was really calling out the guys who bitch about everything all of the time, and never give credit where credit is due.

The track was totally different Friday and Saturday. It definitely was not slick on Friday night, it was rough as hell because of the weather. They did a great job correcting the condition of the track from Friday to Saturday, and the racing on Saturday night was a testament to that.

dirt tracks are supposed to slick off.
it separates the good drivers from the hammerheads, ask any good driver if he prefers hammer down or slick!

The bottom of the turns was choppy, but it was def slick everywhere else. Drivers even said rubbered up. 17-18 second lap times also say it was a junk track.
You do know rubbered up is a completely different track condition than slick, right?
