Announces on their Facebook they are going to Sunday racing starting next week. A lot of unpopular opinions about it. They are really hurt by Hidden Valley and Latrobe opening back up. Probably should have resisted the urge to try and replace Marion Center and stuck with Fridays

I highly doubt Hidden Valley or Latrobe had anything to do with Dog Hollows downfall and not getting car counts and then having to switch to Sundays.  Problem is if you bounce enough checks to drivers and touring series, cars and fans will stop coming.  Pretty simple.

I understand the checks and other issues but a lot of the Late Model and 358 guys went to Hidden Valley and several of the Crate and Pure Stock guys went to Latrobe.

There hasn't been a lot at hidden valley either... I think they had 11... Hummingbird had 8... Doesn't seem to be a lot around at all

Only Stateline and Eriez are pulling pretty good fields of Late Models.  Lernerville and Thunder Mt. are "decent", but just about all the rest are hurting big time!!

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!

Theoretically, what would a team's budget be in order to field a Super Late Model in this region for Friday/Saturday's for an entire season??

edit again:  I write on here for my own fun and games because I have the time and enjoy writing as best as I can.  Don't let the dumb thoughts of an old man having fun screw up your day.  :)

edit:  All below is about cost and NOT the Quality of the racing fans get to watch.  I'm a racing fan and the real only difference between any class of racing from boxstock karts to winged sprint cars is acceleration and speed.   The actual racing I see watching crates is just as good as any I see watching supers.  I recently became a fan of our local pro stocks and just as much want to watch them as winged sprints for the racing.  But 'speed' is what racing is all about and racing has been and always will be to see who is the fastest.  If your going to race anything and your not going to be able to run up front all the time, wouldn't you want to run towards the back in the faster class or fastest class then the slowest you can afford?  Afford is not all about how much money you make, it's also about taking the time and effort to learn how to build your own engines and race cars weather they are capable of winning or not.

Ain't the real lower budget dream the same dream as it's always been?

answer:  The dream is about drawing a good pill, making the starting position pill draw, drawing the number one pill and checking out while those behind you beat and bang for second place.  :)

Correction racing is about being the fastest and also winning.  It's just too damn bad promoters and marketeers continually screw up the racing by providing customers more ways to win, besides being the fastest.

--------------------------------------------

Theoretically, what would a team's budget be in order to field a Super Late Model in this region for Friday/Saturday's for an entire season??

--------------------------------------------

If your asking about the love of racing, putting a car on the track entry level or experienced it's less then a crate late and for better payout.

If your asking about putting equipment capable of running up front the ONLY difference between crate and super is engine cost.

The car numbers are out there to have good fields of super lates everywhere.  The ONLY difference between now and then(the days of the now defunct limited late) is those with the experience and equipment personal money or backed are now running up front for the money in both super and crate late.

Entry level late model racing is NOW as planned by marketeers a thing of the past.  Entry level is now based on as planned with twice the number of people since we landed on the moon, a nitch earning market group.  It's main help are fans and racers alike with the attitude of if you can't afford to go super late model racing up front and only have the money to put together your own engine and run in the back, you SHOULDN'T BE RACING.

The real racer attitude should be if you ain't never run in the top 10 with a full field of cars in a crate, you should take your car super late racing instead for the better payout, tow and lower entry cost.

Do crate racers really have to pay, as i've heard, x amount of dollars each race to the powers to be for the privilege of buying mandated parts and engines?

Do 90% of the crate late racers realize their hard earned money paid to marketers ponzi schemes, doesn't give them a chinaman's chance of beating "high dollar cars with new tires when ever needed and the latest greatest shocks"?

answer must be:  NO!

What's next is to hear from those who use to race in the super late class or other class and went back from crate because at the end of the year they learned it cost them more to race crate for LESS payout and tow return then what they use to race.

Enter now the mandatory 602 racing only to keep cost down and enhance marketing, NOT RACING.

How could you a race fan or racer read this far and not give this post a like?  :)

Back to Dog Hollow thoughts.

I think a chance for them to survive on sundays, assuming they would not have to pony up any money to RUSH, would be to run an all RUSH show plus 305 sprints.

edit:  RUSH may or may not give them crate lates to run because of Eriez but maybe with the low payout for the track other RUSH classes plus 305's would be enough of a fan and car draw.

Hoped it would not happen but sad to say if I'm correct or even close to correct on Dog Hollow, might or could this make it the second track in the area dependent on RUSH cars to survive?

Is there any REAL race car builders?  I used to build the car from a junkyard chassis.  Bend the pipes, weld the roll cage. build the engine  Go racing.  Now you BUY everything.  If the motor is not running good, you send it back to the "engine builder" you don't fix it yourself.  I made money racing.  Raced 3 nights a week.

oldtime racer those were the best times. My crew and I put in some long nights so I do know where you are coming from. My son bought all his racing needs at speed shops raced a S&S chasses. When I asked way he just don"t do some of it yourself, his answer was no time I work 12 hr. days. So I think that has something to do with that.

Dog Hollows problems, in my opinion, are not going to be solved by changing nights. A lot of racers in a lot of divisions are hesitant to go there right now. I hope they get it straight, but time will tell.

From a fans perspective, the car counts there right now are pitiful. Yes everyone is down some, but thats bad.

Lernerville has done decent the last few weeks with LM count, along with thunder mountain. Hidden valley has had 16, 14, and 12 the last 3 races so really not awful either in todays local environment. Of course, the northern tier tracks like Stateline and Eriez always have good LM counts.

yep, we are back to DS2 blaming crate motors for the state of western PA racing. Funny I haven't heard you once bitch about the Penn Ohio series where you a guy like Andrew Gordon coming in with a big stacker trailer and unlimited funds to race for what 1200 or less to win. How is that ok in your eyes but you think crates are so bad? Please enlighten me on your feelings.

You have never once read on here me complaining about how much someone chooses to spend racing because I don't care.

I am complaining in this thread about words I read on here complaining about how little someone has to spend racing.

I've never heard of Andrew Gordon until now and are you complaining about him being able to spend a ton of money to race pro stocks?

The pro stocks around here have become something special.  Why wouldn't someone with the means want to try to compete successfully with them?  Does he successfully compete with them?  If he does good for him and the only thing his money adds to the pro stocks is credibility.  It takes nothing from the pro stocks nor does it DEMAND x amount of dollars have to be spent with a promoter and their partner suppliers to be allowed to race.

I don't remember ever seeing the car race.  I mostly go to winged sprint races but go most anywhere when sprints are rained out, sorry never heard of him or remember seeing the 25 car in the picture.
